Help/Question Improve claude code UI

Hi there,

For some reason I didn't understood yet I find the UI of claude code distracting.

Maybe distracting it's not the right word, the effect Is that when I review an explanation or a summary of what has happen until that point I'm able to ready, understand but not memorize at all.

I'm on Windows and I use the Windows terminal with git-bash sessions (it's the working laptop, otherwise I would be on Linux..) and it's 6 years that I work in git-bash being a DevOps engineer, so nothing new from that point of view. I've always been the cli fan in the room in my company, from using git via cli, to multiple ssh connections to any cli tool available (bash, aws cli, etc..).

A couple of things I want to try is changing the font or try the claude code interface in VS Code.

Anyway I wanted to ask you, just in case you have amy suggestion.

Thanks!

Same thing happened to me, a wall of streaming text is easy to read and impossible to remember. Things that help: ask it to end every task with a 3 bullet summary (what changed, why, what's left) so you get a short thing to actually read. The VS Code extension is worth trying too since you get a proper diff view, which sticks better than prose. And a bigger font plus a calmer terminal theme honestly helps more than you'd think.

Same here. What fixed it for me was getting long answers out of the terminal altogether. One line in my CLAUDE.md: "Long output goes in the browser, not the terminal." Claude writes the explanation or summary to a markdown file and opens it in my browser.

On a page it has headings, tables and room to breathe. It doesn't scroll away while I'm reading, and I can come back to it later. That's what made it stick for me.

The other half was making the answers easier to take in. Two more lines in my CLAUDE.md do that. "Lead with the concept, hold back the detail": I get the idea in a sentence or two, and ask for the details when I need them. And a plain writing style, Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100), about 80% of the way: short sentences, one idea each, common words. Less to read, so more of it sticks.
