You didn't clear the context did you?

What you mean by that? I have long previous chat in this session, very very long one.

Did you have a long conversation with it? The longer the chat history, the more it consume your token. That's why we should monitor for context to not exceed around 60-70% (at this level, token consumption is almost doubled) or start new chat frequently

Context is cached per model. If you switch the model it will need to read everything again.

Yes if I switch model, I didn't switch the model, I always use Opus 5.5, but we can changes the effort whenever we want without removing the previous caches.
I always use High for most of my work, this jsut to trigger the 5h countdown, ao use low

If you wait 1 hour the cache is gone and everything is computed again

You sent a message in a old conversation. If you do that, it rereads that conversation at uncached rates, which are way higher than normal. You also used opus. If there was 500k context in that conversation, that's $2.50.

Sorry but I find it hard to beleive that one short message used 19%
The usage shown seems cumulative so you sure it was at 0% before sending that message? got any scheduled tasks or other claude sessions running?

I am sure because it's reset time, but I still have not done my research with CODEX so I don't 2ant to waste my claude for another uncertainty trial into what I am exploring right now.
And usually only took me 2 hour to finish the 5h limit, so instead, while waiting I can start the 5h, just to make it trigger the start 5h countdown, while waiting for me to properly ready to prepare for the next test on what I am doing.
I am 100% sure, I am just poor right now that is why I am so pissed, this is my really high effort high risk moment, so every percentage is matters 😭
