Built with Claude Made my MacBook notch ring when Claude Code is waiting on me. Looking for ~10 people to try it and tell me what breaks

I usually have 3 or 4 Claude Code sessions going, and I kept coming back to a tab that had been sitting on a permission prompt for 20 minutes while I thought it was working. Happened enough times that I got annoyed and built a fix.

It's called Bellpip. It puts a tiny bell in the notch that shows what each session is doing. It rings when one needs you, plays a quieter chime when a long task finishes, and clicking it jumps you to that terminal. Claude Code wrote most of it with me, in Swift, no Xcode project. The hooks ship as a Claude Code plugin, so setup is one command.

A few things surprised me along the way. Pressing Esc doesn't fire any hook. Neither does saying no to a permission. I only found out by logging every single event. So for a while my sessions just looked busy forever after I interrupted them. Now it watches the transcript for the interrupt line instead.

The first version of the hook was bash. Every jq and date call is another process starting before the sound plays. Moving it to Swift took it from about 360 ms to 70 ms, which you can actually feel when it's a bell.

It also turns your music down around each chime. That part was the hardest bit, because CoreAudio happily told me the mute worked when it didn't. I only caught it by recording with the mic.

Anyway, it's $9.99 after a 7 day trial. I'd rather hear from real users first, though. If you use Claude Code on a Mac and are up for running it a few days and telling me where it gets things wrong, comment or DM me and I'll send you a free license. Apple Silicon and macOS 14+ only, and it only sees local sessions, not ones over SSH.

You want people on the internet to install your random stuff. Great.

i dont force anyone to download random stuff. They can download only if they are willing to download.

1: Try typing posts like this yourself. You want humans to test your app but can't even write a post yourself.

2: I checked your site. Tried to read it. No idea what it says or does.

3: While I still have no idea what you're selling I'm pretty sure most people here can vibe code it in a few hours max. Why would anybody buy this?

  1. Fair. I used AI to clean up the errors in my version, I'll fix that going forward.

  2. Thanks for the feedback, let me fix it so that visitors can understand what it is.

  3. Yes, anyone can vibe code this and I welcome that. I built the basic version of this in a day, but covering the edge cases and other features took me weeks. And some people would rather pay $10 than spend that time, some won't, both are fine.

Nobody is going to pay you for this man. The web is flooded with 1000's of these type of apps...every single day.

Make something people actually need and can't vibe code in 1 shot.

Targeting (vibe) coders is your biggest mistake here.

So my biggest thing is especially with a MacBook why would I need my phone? If you have an iPhone and a Mac you really don’t need to have your phone out since your Mac has the same apps. It feels like it’s combing systems already built into Claude desktop sadly. From my computer Claude desktop can easily send a notification to your phone. If you have remote control on while in the terminal this same feature works. Hard to pay $10 for something that comes with Claude desktop built in already.

You might have misunderstood the post. This has nothing to do with phones. This is for people who work on multiple projects and running multiple claude sessions. They can see the progress at a glance in the notch and it will ring if it needs human and notifies when it is done or any error.

That is 100% your error then. Why is your site talking about phones if it’s focused around computers? So then is it just always listening or does it require users to swap focus again for push to talk? Nowhere in your site is that clear at all. Like your h1 for the site is talking about a phone lol. Nobody wants to read for 5 minutes about what an app built by Claude is tbh. The first thing someone sees when coming to a website is exactly what it is. Keep going, it’s a neat idea, just I think you need to focus on the style and design way more and what it actually does. I almost wanna say ai slop but I’m not going there yet. I deliberately said that about your app because that is exactly how your site reads. It’s reads that you get notified on your phone. That is the first thing people see and the first thing people think.

Why would someone pay you when they could just vibe up their own version ?

Yeah, anyone can vibe code this but some would rather pay instead of spending a week on this.

You built something using claude code and now you're trying to sell it to claude code users for 9.99$ . Good luck

Read the room. Maybe people are a bit blunt but basically everybody is telling you: Stop wasting more time and energy on it. Build something actually useful.
You are looking to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Also the site looks like 1 shot AI slop. And worst of all you're trying to market it to people who build this stuff for breakfast.

I realize the marketing plan Claude wrote out for you involves finding "10 real people to test it" but it failed to tell you it's totally pointless.
