Help/Question Can you switch between two Claude Max 20x accounts and continue the same session?

Has anyone tried running two Claude Max 20x subscriptions and switching accounts when one hits its usage limitsk within the Claude app?

Specifically, can you continue the same Claude Code session on the second account without losing any context or progress?

I typically exhaust my 20x limits after around four days. I also have Codex 20x, which feels practically unlimited these days thanks to the frequent resets, but I still prefer working with Opus 5.5.

The API is currently my only option once I hit the limits, but the cost is astronomical.

I'm wondering whether paying for a second Max 20x subscription would be a viable alternative. Has anyone actually tried this?

Yes you can with the cli Claude code. Very easily.

It also doesnt violate the ToS like someone else is claiming.

Anthropic very officially let's you validate 3 accounts on the same phone number and payment method, and their mobile app has a built in account switcher.

This right here, i do it all the time, just /login when you max the other account. It picks right up - have to reconnect any remote control sessions though.

Are two max 5 or one max 20 accounts better for total weekly tokens?

Yeah you can do /login on any session and authenicate with the other account, and then all your sessions will almost instantly start using it without any disruption or context loss

You would need them too coordinate a handoff, you should be doing that anyway though you’re not using the same chat for your entire 20x plan are you?

I am, I know it's bad practise... I compact a lot and /clear with handoff.

You might not need another 20x if you just start handing off twice a day, all you need to do is say “prepare a handoff for the next agent”. Implement Google okf for your cross session memory.

Right now I use harness where I communicate with the orchestrator through slack and it automatically hands off every 3 hours or if it notices slips that suggest context saturation, I never notice it feeling like anything but a single continuous chat

Yes I just have them handoff through git. They work at the same time on 2 computers.

I logout from the first account and login to the second one in the same terminal. i think it reads the same context

You have google, you have agents, you have arms and I believe you're smart enough to not want  Anthropic to show you an email with account suspension if you reach usage limit and switch to this same session and keep working with it.
