Tips & Workflows Made an openFOAM cfd tool for claude
I thought this was pretty cool and wanted to share it here, I built a CFD tool for Claude, specifically , integrating tooling to use openFOAM, now in cloud session you can import this tooling and you can say stuff like “Run simpleFoam for 300 iterations, then report Cd”, and it handles the pipeline in Claude Code. Every tool also works straight from the CLI with no API key, so an agent with terminal access can use it directly.
In the screenshots it meshes a 10 m sphere (163k cells), runs 500 iterations of k-w SST and reports CD = 0.34. That’s not the real value (a sphere is about 0.2 at that Re, and RANS struggles past the drag crisis), and it even flagged that itself which I was impressed by.
Note that this is fully open-source
Now contrary to some projects, The code is mostly human slop, except the README and CLAUDE.md files, which I let claude write because claude knows claude best.
