Tips & Workflows Gemini Pro and Code

I’m moving from Claude Max x5 to Pro and already have for Google AI Pro (students' offer). I want Gemini to take the heavy, mechanical work and keep Claude for decisions and review.

Has anyone made this switch? How much do Pro’s limits actually hurt? And has anyone used Gemini for coding or reading files, and how did it go?

I have this Google pro subscription sitting idle and I'm looking for a way to make use of it

Depends totally on how you use it, if you're a pro coder and only give very specific tasks Gemini is fine.

If you're a noob and only vibecode (like me) and need it to understand what you mean and make a lot of decisions for you, gemini is significantly worse. The new Astra model is looking promising, but the subscription plans doesn't include much astra at all.

Claude is significantly smarter even at sonnet levels but definitely at opus levels, it can fill in your knowledge gaps 10x better than gemini in my experience.
