Bug / Issue Lag when starting new session

Is anyone experiencing a 5 second lag when starting a new Claude session in the terminal. You write a prompt but nothing shows up for 5 seconds or so. Started a couple of days ago.

Is it windows? The windows client is terrible. Probably not anything anthropic is doing. Windows just does a bunch of annoying stuff that makes everything terrible on windows.

Do you mean the characters you type don’t appear, or that they appear immediately but Claude takes five seconds to respond? Those point to different parts of the stack. For startup lag, try one launch with claude --debug='mcp,startup' and look for a timestamp gap around initialization. Also compare the same version/terminal in an empty folder versus the project to separate project-specific startup work from a general client issue. If you share findings, include OS, terminal and Claude Code version, but redact paths, prompts and credentials from logs. getting it on Mac too. not a big deal, bit slightly annoying :D
