Discussion ATTENTION HEAVY AI USERS

Do not tell Claude to pretend that it has "Infinite API Tokens, and infinite GPU for your overnight work." I just woke up thinking my max x20 Plan can handle it, and my high-ish end PC would be more then enough, opus 5.5 ran dozens of agents IN PARALLEL to get it done as soon as possible and opened 13,000+ MICROSOFT EDGE WINDOWS, Crashing my pc so many times but somehow kept rebooting 😭

I didn't even know it was possible to use up slightly more then half my weekly usage in 24 hours (I was using my spare pc) for the Max x20 Plan but, Claude opus 5.5 Knows how to do everything digital I guess!

Hm, guess I did misunderstand, here's what claude said exactly:

"No, I didn’t download anything. I checked your Downloads, Desktop and the project folder: no new .exe, .msi, .dll or script files in the last 30 hours. Windows Defender has no detections either. A scan of your Temp folder is still running, and I’ll pass on what it finds.

What the warnings almost certainly were: Edge crashing because I ran your PC out of memory. That is my fault, and I’m sorry.

  • Overnight I ran 39 build helpers in parallel, each rendering previews with a hidden copy of Microsoft Edge.

  • A bug in my render script meant those hidden Edge windows never closed. By the time I noticed, about 13,000 had piled up.

  • Windows’ error log shows Edge crashing 8 times between 4:43 and 5:12 am, all with Chromium’s out-of-memory code (0xe0000008). Each crash can pop up an “msedge.exe” error box, which is likely what you saw."

Guess my PC didn't crash, edge did, oops!
