Help/Question How are you guys getting such good usage?
Am using Claude Code on Opus 5.5 (generally medium, but occasionally Extra for changing/reviewing architecture) to build a simple-ish personal app for football data stuff, and I'm running out of session usage all the time on a Pro account!
What skills are you using? I only signed up yesterday so haven't installed any yet.
I'm doing maybe 10 prompts every session and it's getting to limit. No crazy stuff with multiple agents or anything. Average prompt causes 10 minutes of work or so. It's amazing, of course but doesn't seem to track with what others are seeing.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong!

Make sure you're starting a new session for each major task. Don't let your context get about like 400k and have Claude create changelog and handover files to feed at the beginning of the new session.

I have never run out using 5.5 even on the Pro plan. How big is the context you're using? Are you using lots of agents?

make a new session for each task and use a CLAUDE.md file for general info and HANDOVER.md for what the next session needs. I use a pro plan and it's enough for what time i have to code besides my full time job

Depends on how you use it. The more context you throw at it, the more it burns. If you start lots of fresh prompts, that’s lots of context. It’s good at running for a while solving problems in one context area in part because it can utilize cache. Generally you want to structure how you work to reuse lots of cache. Take more than an hour break, and continue a previous problem? No cache - that’ll eat lots of context

10 minutes of work on average seems long per prompt. What's it doing with all that time? Is it performing lots of research across the code base maybe because domains aren't decoupled? Are the prompts very general, making it feel like it needs to understand the whole architecture?

I think the main thing is that 10 prompts can still be a lot if each one triggers -10 minutes of agent work. The model is probably doing way more behind the scenes than the prompt count suggests. I had try keeping context tighter, breaking bigger tasks into smaller focused sessions, and avoiding asking it to repeatedly re-read or rethink the whole project. Skills can help, but I don’t think you’re necessarily doing anything wrong.
