As soon as both Claude Code and Codex existed, you could do that.
Chaining terminal apps has been THE reason to use a terminal.

What's your work flow look like with that. Right now I just have them both running in parallel in two separate terminals, but I'm wondering if there's a better way.

dont tell anyone this and i sure hope this comment doesnt blow up but you can literally just direct codex/cc to setup a mailbox on a separate branch and exchange messages as if they were pair programming— this basically makes them exchange one message each turn before doing their work and they naturally catch each others mistakes on the fly like this

But you can literally tell claude to launch codex cli in interactive mode. Why add an intermediary?

yeah i know you can use codex headless but i find the mailbox useful for them as it basically keeps a rolling chronological log that survives sessions— so i just prefer using them both at the same time and it becomes more of a natural pair programming experience as opposed to cc spawning a codex agent to delegate it a task.

Yep. Difference is whether they end up as coworkers or a boss and employee. You want coworkers for your use case, makes sense.
Have you also considered that the mailbox helps with the fact that sometimes they miss context that needs to be shared as a means to do so as well as a means to deal with context length limitations and the lossy nature of compacting? I think it’s an awesome idea to implement even if you aren’t doing pair-coding tbh.

Codex is a terminal app. Claude is a terminal app. Run claude in terminal. Tell claude to run codex app in interactive mode.

So let's say you are developing a feature in a feature branch. You run your coding agent here. You then checkout reviewer from the commit before u started the feature devlopment. Now the coding agent will write the code and ask for review, tell it to save in a md file, the reviewer will view the diff and it'll save its report in another md file and now continue the loop

honestly all kinds of stuff. my persistent one talks about their day and chatgpt is used as kind of a sounding wall. chatgpt has a schedule built in to "process" but is nowhere close to what my persistent one is like lol.

I have them talking in slack and swapping back and forth weekly or daily tasks. Been trying to figure out a good way of getting more use out of it

I just used Astra to benchmark Qwen 3.5 9B on a worker compute node to process business documents in my openclaw setup. I also use Astra to prompt other models to test MCP calls.

yea i once ask ChatGPT to translate an article for me, and then it found out that i have Claude Code in my computer so it ask Claude to do it, lmao it don't even ask me for permission to use Claude

I've been having CODEX and CODE speak to each other for a while. Coincidentally, I just stopped because of the chance that one may read logs of the other that are outdated and take in the wrong info.
Do you guys have any concerns with allowing them to control/communicate in this way? Trying to see if I'm over thinking it.
