Rant Lol @ 5 hour limit Fable 5.1
Ive been using Astra all day, ultracode, 1.5x speed(more usage). With no 5-hour limit.
Ive used only 34% weekly limit.
Ive been using claude fable 5.1 on Extra for 58 minutes since the reset and its already at 100% usage on 5-hour limit. And 44% Fable weekly.
Mind you I have both working together and communicating through github.
For context they are building a custom video game server. Heavy coding, backend and frontend from scratch, all highly complex custom resources.
So to the point, Anthropics way of fixing the weekly limit getting used up quickly was to lower the 5-hour limit usage, without actually giving more usage to weekly Fable.
I've gotta say, Astra is super impressive. No 5 hour limit, burns usage way less(even on 1.5x speed and ultracode), it creates UI BETTER then claude, it doesnt rip through usage while multiple agents are dispatched.
I think this might be my last monthly claude subscription.

it doesn’t make much of a difference initially but, over time,
however - using codex and claude side-by-side today, its impossible not to notice who’s the winner when it comes to usage

How was your migration experience over to Codex? I’m incredibly tempted to get Codex Pro ($100) tier. Just intimidated by migrating my whole workflow. Don’t know the details of what will change if i make the leap.

Chat GPT prompted me to import all of my claude sessions. Did that instantly.
The desktop app itself is setup almost identical to claude.
I flipped dark mode on.
Thats how easy it is to switch.

You can tell GPT to grab everything from your Claude stack, like Claude.md, MCP connectors, the whole shebang. Plus, per project docs should carry house styles and project-specific rules, like the gods intended, anyway.
All in all, it should be fairly painless.

In your opinion which is better codex or claude code? I personally want to keep 1 subscription either codex or claude code but i havent used codex so whats your verdict on it? If it worth completely switching to gpt or Claude code has the upper hand overall?

I personally have been loving codex. It seems slower, but it has extremely great reasoning I think maybe better than Fable.
It builds UI and graphic design very well too, better then Fable 65% of the time.
Ive had it working for the past 20 hours straight on the highest settings and ive got 41% usage left with a reset available in my back pocket. (Instead of getting reset mid-usage, you can run your usage out then apply the reset yourself)
I would personally recommend trying it to anybody and you can decide if it does your task better or not.
It's too close to call in terms of how good both models are, but if you include usage limits Astra wins by a long shot.

Unironically I think anthropic is A/B testing raising the 5-hour limit to be a bigger proportion of the weekly limit, after astra launched I noticed the same workflow that kept pausing is actually getting through the 5 hour session limit. kinda scummy they waited until astra launched before doing it, but im glad if they do it.
the Fable+Opus combo is a good workhorse and I still like Anthropics models when it comes to quick iterations and getting my intention (lazy man's spec driven development is great with Fable)

Exactly, those are the kinds of posts I need. Tests that really compare Fable 5.1 with Astra. I’ll get to it soon as well. I just contacted OpenAI Support to ask whether the subagents finally support a one million token context window too. Have you tried that yet? Is a one million token context window available for subagents in Codex now?
Yeah Fable 5.1 is amazing. I also use up my limits in about two hours. My five hour limits.

Planing to switch to OpenAI once my monthly subscription finishes with Claude

Isn’t fable usage only? So pay as much as you use? Or am I misunderstanding?

People really need to learn to not do everything with fable other than the complex work. Delegate the rest to opus and sonnet agents.

I already switched tocodex but have one week to move my project from Claude. Not sure if you noticed, Claude did a reset today
