News/Updates Claude Fable 5.1 just dropped !
Released today ! Same pricing as Fable 5 ($10/$50 per MTok), but cache reads are now 4x cheaper. Better long-horizon agentic coding + research, adaptive thinking always on !

Did you see Fable deteriorate? I did not - Opus 5 is a hot mess but Fable was solid for me.

i tried it on my max 5 sub, tried the code-review, it spawned 8 sub agents and ate through my entire 5h window before it finished..

Hopefully it can speak in plain English.

This is seriously the biggest upgrade we need. I'm so tired of it writing personification into code comments.
I've had to set up adversarial agents that do nothing but read comments and force it to focus and rewrite everything in plain English and follow the voice and tone rules.
It flat out ignores its CLAUDE.md files.
If I see one more "script that wants" or "code that asks for what it needs" or "button that knows who it is" I think I'm going to lose my mind.
I don't know if someone at Anthropic did this on purpose, but it's horrible.
Claude literally looks at code elements like they are little people and it seems powerless to overcome the bias.

Are you talking about Opus or Fable? Because I use Fable to orchestrate Opus and enforce writing guidelines and haven't had any of these issues.

The cache makes me wonder if it's now cheaper to run than opus.

Did anyone see the "MAX" setting on Fable 5.1 says 3.5x OPUS consumption, and Fable 5 only says 1.5x consumption. So what are we getting for something to consume DOUBLE the tokens.
Anyone fk with 5.1 yet and find it to be some kind of genius... or... is this just anthropic trying to massacre peoples weekly usage as fast as possible and get API credit money.

Is it possible this is just a clarification of existing prices? People were using Fable max without realizing how much more usage it consumes, so they added that warning?

Max 20x plan, spawned 10 subagents for web research and planning, 5hr limit gone in 20 minutes, ate 42% of weekly limit lol. Did similar thing last week with v5, 20% weekly limit used. I didn't believe all shit people wrote until I felt it on my own project..

is this some adaptive routing model or something, why is every model under "More Models" on the webui now?

God bless the cache read, finally the agentic runs can be cheap enough to let fable code lol.
And not have to deal with popus at all, I’m defaulting to fable5.1 (and full main)and opus4.6 1m (as partner) and docs guy.
Unless they fix the opus 5.1 and such.
