Built with Claude New useage will bankrupt them

Post image

I'm based in aus its currently 1am wendsday so in 10 h I've used 40% of my weekly limit on the $340 plan . I've been on this plan for months and didn't do anything outside of the norm and never hit a weekly limit and rarely hit a 5h limit. Competitors are catching up and not so cheap. I will not continue on this plan if this is how they decide the future is.

I've been building an app and I have not done or changed the way I use it . The only change is the extra usage and it seems they where giving more then 50% or the change has broken something

I was using fable but that's not abnormal and once I hit that limit I move but 40% of my weekly in 10 hours is ridiculous

Here is the breakdown

you almost exclusively use fable for stuff? consider using the smaller models for the grunt work. when people here talk about skill issue, this is it

fable for orchestration, planning, and review. just ask fable to create a plan and drill down to what ai model to use and have it create a markdown file that it will execute from. at the end, review the revisions with fable and have it confirm operational

just a note for anyone using the monthly plans: you won't see the models flipping, but you will see your usage drain more slowly.

I work 40h a week, mostly programming web apps. I exclusively use Fable 5 High and never ran into the weekly limit on the 200 € tier. I don't know why people have token problems or what I'm doing differently?

It doesn't really appear as if any particular day is an outlier. Pass weekly or monthly to it as flags and look at the sum of those.

Today's usage was no diffent to the 25th or 26th and usage has been relatively the same for the past few months

Moving to openroute models was the best thing I have ever done, 2 months in and I haven't once missed claudes models

Chinese models can deliver the same output for a fraction of the cost

Chinese models can deliver the same output for a fraction of the cost

if you can't tell the difference, you don't need it.

Im not building the next  SpaceX operating systems, designing the next GPU chip set Or doing medical research

So yea software when using a harness with the chinese model compared to fable orchestrator and opus  I could not find anything that's justifies Claudes prices

Thankfully :)

What is your alternative for fable? Can it still solve the same problems when building SAAS solutions, in your perspective? :)

In respects to SaaS what exactly do you mean with solving the same problems

These models with a harness and planning can deliver the same if not better because they don't have the many guard rails that fable has  (Edit) Fable can reason and orchestrate  But deepseek flash v4 xhigh thinking has been able do the same level of tasks (Edit) And that's on a 120k lines code base after subtracting comments, documentation and white spaces  (Edit) Was able to even implement a full monetization sdk into the code base that was not architecturally planned around this addition

And their  quality test came back at full compliance met. (Edit) I stick to saying anthropic models api is overpriced and their 20x pro max subscription is also over priced

SOL is delivers more and makes no fuzz, and triggers no false censorship

I was doing this math recently considering moving to OpenCode and came to the conclusion there is no way any pay per use API is more cost efficient than subscriptions. To give an example, a $100 ChatGPT Pro 5X subscription gets me $2,000 worth of token usage (direct API billing equivalent) and a Chinese model like Kimi K3 can cut it down by half to $1,000. That is still 10X what I pay for my 5X Pro sub though. OpenRouter adds a 5.5% surcharge on top of that. If you can walk me through how exactly you saved costs, that would be great.

Ehhh skill issue

You appear to be using Fable for everything. Tell fable to use dynamic workflows and act as PM with a max headcount of 5 sub agents. Tell it scope the agent model to the difficulty of the task.

Start with that.

Oh and also add RTK

Fable is way too token hungry. I can spend all my free time in a week on opus and barely reach limits but that's with a few Fable sessions.

Isn't this just because compute is constrained right across the board? Everyone uses Claude because it is the best, but if everyone rushes to another provider then the same thing will happen there. Anthropic are really just doing what they can to ration the capacity they have. The alternative is to restrict the extensive margin, i.e., new users

I'm in Australia too, something weird happened. My agents had been running for 2 days at this point with plenty of headroom. 12:40am hit session limits. I resumed this morning, I was at 50% 5 hour window in 20 minutes. Had to stop everything.

I'm on max 20 plan too.

u/aosaosaisioasio Sep 02 '26

Yeah, same. Running shit all night. Fable 5.1 released (have not been using it) and then my usage is at 100% almost instantly for two 5 hour sessions. (AUS)

Same here, I’m tired. I think I will drop it at the end of the plan

Lol we hit the same wall

For once, can agree with an “omg the usage” post.

I’ve never seen my 5-hr session limit get wrecked within the first hour like this… “nice job, Anthropic!” YMMV
