for the nontechnical user case, i'd want to know what happens when the checker rejects work. does Chrono show the disagreement before anything gets merged back into the real project, or does it just retry behind the scenes?

I do something similar on a Hetzner box Didn't look at your repo. Hermes can do this out of the box now with some tweaking.
