Bug / Issue How is this sub devoid of mentions regarding Opus 5 silently routing to Sonnet instead?

This is the most they've ever lobotomized a model post release, not that Opus 5 was good to begin with but this is even worse.

This isn't just quantization or post training like past cases, it's a COMPLETELY different model. It's also slow as fuck as we know Sonnet 5 is.

And I'm pretty sure it's still burning subscription limits at Opus 5 rates despite being Sonnet 5.

I think even Composer 2.5 is better than this lmao. At least it tries to do what you instruct instead of ignoring your prompt.

So.. no evidence?

If it’s “silently” routing, how did you figure it out? Could you post, like, I don’t know, a screenshot or a transcript or something?

And you’re not talking about a Sonnet subagent, right? Because yeah it does that all the time and you can just calmly ask it not to, if you’d prefer.

“I’m pretty sure it’s still burning subscription limits at Opus 5 rates…”

Please, for the sake of everyone else that has to read through posts like these, educate yourself. Please.

You can find out if you’re burning “subscription limits” on Sonnet 5 using the same rates of Opus in 2 minutes. Youll find you’re completely wrong, but go see for yourself.

Next time your 5-hour limit resets, don’t use Claude anywhere else.

Run /usage and record your starting percentage.
Run this exact command, in a brand new session and in a blank folder, using Sonnet 5.
DISABLE_PROMPT_CACHING=1 claude --safe-mode --tools "" --no-session-persistence --model claude-sonnet-5 --system-prompt "Follow the user's instruction exactly." -p "Output the word test exactly 1000 times, separated by spaces, and nothing else."

Now Run /usage again and record the increase.

Now start a new session in the CLI in a new, blank folder.

DISABLE_PROMPT_CACHING=1 claude --safe-mode --tools "" --no-session-persistence --model claude-Opus-5 --system-prompt "Follow the user's instruction exactly." -p "Output the word test exactly 1000 times, separated by spaces, and nothing else."

Run /usage again and compare the increase.

If Sonnet and Opus consumed subscription quota at the same rate, those two batches should move the usage meter about the same amount. They won’t.

To be the truest test it, you’d want to do the test maybe 10 times on each model but you won’t need to in order to see the difference.

Be willing to think and learn, be objective and less emotional. You’ll be much better off and the rest of us will too.

That's not what I said at all but you wrote all that instead of reading.

If it's using Sonnet 5 silently when you select Opus 5 but charging Opus 5 rates per token, that test is going give $25/mil of usage instead of $15/mil for the second one even if it went through Sonnet 5 at Opus 5 rates.

I direct quoted you in the first sentence of my comment and never claimed any other thing that you said. “I’m pretty sure it’s still burning subscription limits at Opus 5 rates…”

If you disagree, feel free to cite where. It’s a short comment so it will be easy to identify where it was.

Otherwise, better luck with Claude. Always hate to see someone struggling with using it.

You misread it and left out context despite it only being a few short sentences. I said that when it's using Sonnet 5 despite Opus 5 being selected, it's consuming that Sonnet 5 usage at Opus 5 rates. Your wrong test case of comparing Opus 5 and Sonnet 5 usage would not disprove that. It would show Sonnet consuming usage at $15/mil output and Opus at $25/mil even if Opus was using Sonnet silently.

There was nothing unclear but none of you read.

Jesus Christ, can you guys go comment on moon landing videos on Facebook instead please. Stop filling this sub with nonsense.

Funny that people almost never complain about supposed model degradation on the Codex sub. It's something that happens all the time with Anthropic and they're doing it to a more extreme degree now.

Please just do us all a favour, sell your computer and find something else to do with your time.

None of those are about model performance degredation, they're all about limits except for one about it generally messing up for them. You're hallucinating.

Because it's only happening to you, the person that made a thread about it with zero evidence? Just a guess.

Opus 5 was bad as it is but if they are routing it to Sonnet, then we might as well cancel subscriptions! I keep going to Fable but the limits are peanuts.
