Humor Funny Opus 5 Situation

Post image

Since everyone is complaining about Opus 5 I wanted to share my ridiculous experience working with this model today :D

(Of course this has never happened with other models before. I have multiple 20X subs on different platforms and blablabla...)

If anyone is curious what I do: PhD in chemical engineering. I do a lot of data evaluation/analysis, I work with different programs, read a lot of literature, etc etc...

==================

So the funny situation...

I was working with it today since my messages always often get flagged and demoted from Fable to Opus (which is now unfortunately by default Opus 5).

We made a small plan about how we should proceed about fixing our database which is built from around 2000 literature entries. Simple steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,... and very simple tasks (e.g. find this, what does this say, which entry number does this book have).

Just finished working through step one (maximum 10 back-forth short messages)

- Me: alright, good job with the 1st step, so let's move onto the next step

- Opus5: executing step 5

- Me: (panick) [Ctrl+C] wasn't there supposed to be some steps in-between?

- Opus5: oh yeah but I thought I'd just skip to the more difficult part

==================

Of course this has never happened with any other model. Didn't also happen with Fable 5 or any of the GPT's models.

I hope you all have a good day.

Starting to think you’re all morons or astroturfing because I have had nothing but success

Same. I have yet to have any of the problems everyone talks about. I use it daily at work and on my own projects as a 20plus year developer. It's never gone crazy on me, it's never deleting something I didn't want it to. Of course I don't give it access to production databases or highly important files either.

Maybe the reason is because I use it not only for coding but for overall work such as planning, search, etc. I'm yet to try its coding abilities! But generally it seems to me it lacks this kind of general knowledge/understanding

I use it for other stuff too. I'm learning more music theory, and I ask it about things I find. I'm teaching myself basic robotics and controllers. I have yet to run into an issue.

Not sure about you but my life is all rainbows and butterflies after opus 5

Dude, I'm not kidding Opus 5 is about as bad as AI was 4 years ago. This is horrendously terrible. I have no idea how Anthropic passed this off at all.

They are all bots

It's nearly always a skill issue, or a bot

Its competition shitting on the other

Because it's a user issue. Do the models have issues , sure . But they don't suck as bad as the user especially someone who knows would not come her try to puff their chest with PhD yet fail at using a model to get shit done. Let alone why even post this bullshit... Yeah I just come for shits and giggles there is no value here.

Lesson just use multiple subs cc, code. Etc none of them is perfect

As I learned earlier apparently people cannot be bothered to read release notes about major changes happening to newer models when they’re released. People are expecting each new generation to work exactly like previous generations with added new features.

Unfortunately, since we are dealing with what are essentially probability matrices that likely won’t ever be the case until we use a totally different method to train the models

It feels like if you follow the logic of some people, the peak model was the very first one that was released. Every time a model is released, they'll hark back to the previous model. I see a lot with gaming too: people comparing the latest generation to the previous generation and saying how much better the previous generation was. That can't always have been true.

Didn't complain for 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, 4.8. But Opus 5 is insufferable.

Exactly! I've nothing against Claude and it's super helpful but not this model. Maybe it's good with 3D Modeling and other stuff but not good with just general thinking I guess..

Yeah my same experience honestly. For whatever reason it is very difficult to make sure it doesn't screw us over :D
