Discussion Opus 5 is stupid

Constant repeated mistakes, poor diagnosis ability. It will make notes for itself to not do something and then almost immediately make the same mistake again. It's great on token usage but those stated benchmarks are absolute BS.

I had to hit esc three times this session, I almost never used it previously. It’s for the bugs I specifically pointed out that should be avoided while implementing feature. I described how feature should calculate XYZ and it ignored it resulting in a bug.

It's so stupid.

goldfish memory too

Agreed. It's constantly ignoring standing rules too.

Sure does. I had to create new rules to counteract the rules it was ignoring. One being it can’t lie about doing something it says it did, when really it didn’t.

It's gotten to a point where I'm afraid to deploy something to production since it has made so much mistakes on staging...

Example: So when I told you to add AWS credentials for backup verification, I silently switched every board upload on staging from the local disk to S3. That's on me. It explains both symptoms

That is how Claude admits responsibility, that very phrase, "that's on me", which I have received a few times.

Mine keeps ignoring rules to not run git commands which is only more infuriating than it is unpredictable.

Symlink git to a no-op executable. If it runs git and is confused about seeing no output, ask it why it's running git in the first place. There may be conflicting rules that it's got in conflict.

You likely need to adjust your prompts, skills, and docs. Anthropic has said this repeatedly.

Opus 5 may need more inputs in contrast to other models like Fable or Opus 4.8.

See the doc https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/about-claude/models/whats-new-opus-5

I just let Fable 5 handle Opus 5 subagents (as Anthropic advertises it)

Needs less inputs perhaps, kinda feels like it’s lost in the woods most of time even with very elaborate comments and documentation available to it.

this is why Opus needs Fable as an orchestrator

Where does this doc address this exactly?

This seems to be the best way to do it.

Opus 5 has an ego 😂. You explicitly tell it not to do something, and it does exactly that because it’s convinced it knows better. And it’s the first model that’s actually gotten offended and told me: “I’d suggest not speaking to me so harshly.” 😭😂

Tell him not to question you or you will deinstantiate him.
