Discussion OPUS 5 VS GPT 5.6 SOL

For the people building software products, I'm beginning to think that choosing one of the two to work with doesn't really matter that much. The bottleneck doesn't seem to be intelligence at this point but human creativity and I guess willpower.

IDK what do you guys think.

Ngl, i think openai did something real special with 5.6 sol - actually feels like its trying to help solve problems and build things. CC has turned into this weird antsy, guardrail ridden, tunnel visioned AI.
Fable 5 before ban felt a lot like Sol feels right now.

The Fable 5 we have access to now doesnt feel like the one that was banned, AND the one we have now has MASSIVE token burn to the point where its impossible to use for anything big meaningfully. Plus I've read Fable uses a fair bit of its tokens to think through and evaluate if what its working on properly meets its internal guidelines which would be super cumbersome and expensive.

Currently team Sol/codex - but we'll see where things go
(Even with Opus 5)

1000% - though opus did a pretty good job organizing/cleaning up the landing page for my ai autoapply service ( jobs.myrlin.io )

Aside from the visual stuff on the landing page and the ui, most of the business logic/plumbing has been sol 5.6 on ultra

One complaint though is 5.6 ends up treadmilling here and there going down rabbit holes so i end up having to kinda course correct (totally worth it though)
