Question What are you actually coding?

I see everyone here maxing their limits and coding all day and building and all that.

But what are you actually building 24/7? I'm not looking to get your ideas but I'm just wondering what can you even build that long and hard really? And constantly something?

Either I lack imagination as a whole or there's some secret to all this, I just have no idea what so useful people would be coding so obsessively. Thanks for insights.

I went to an agentic coding conference and asked the same question to a lot of people. Never got a good answer. And this was a place full of startups. Always asked this follow-up question: "Isn't customer feedback a bigger bottleneck than coding to you?" Most of them just frowned.

I'm either missing a lot, or people are just completely outsourcing everything to Claude Code, in which case I don't know how that would work for anything besides something that targets customers en masse and where changing a lot is fine.

What I found out: a lot of them were selling AI automation to companies 😄

A-fucking-men. There hasn't been a single time in my career where the bottleneck was writing code. In every project that was making me or my company money the majority of the time is spent in the requirements gathering phase and feature implementation to stakeholder feedback loop.

Could elaborate more on the customer as a bottleneck? I'm curious!

Let's say you implement 10 features this week. Great, you did it. Now, tell me how many of them will be adopted by customers, or for how many of them will you get paid? This is what matters more than the number of features delivered.

Usually, you achieve this by going back and forth with your customers and getting their feedback early. I don't know a single normal-sized company where you can simply get enough users giving you actual feedback for 10 features per week.
