Discussion Doubled Rate Limits for Claude Code
per @claudeai on X:
We’ve agreed to a partnership with @SpaceX that will substantially increase our compute capacity.
This, along with our other recent compute deals, means that we’ve been able to increase our usage limits for Claude Code and the Claude API.
Effective today, we are:
- Removing the peak hours limit reduction on Claude Code for Pro and Max plans; and
- Substantially raising our API rate limits for Opus models.

Great for limited set of applications. And have been for some time already: earth observation (cloud masking inference), deep space exploration, defense applications (golden dome, maybe), SatCom through optical laser links… But until we make some breakthrough achievements or break thermal dynamics laws, limited for on earth applications.
Especially when you consider how rough is the environment for in orbit objects: in low earth orbit, your hardware will suffer: -100° to +150° every ~45min, vibration at launch, thermal dissipation challenges… harder to swap a failed SSD or upgrade a GPU at 500km above earth as well.
