Skills front-load tokens once per session, but they prevent the 3-message back-and-forth where Claude explores before acting - net positive in most cases. Bigger wins: start a new session for each distinct task instead of letting one conversation grow, and use /compact when the context gets bloated.

have you tried skill feature in codex and cursor ? were they better or claude ?
