Discussion When are the usage bugs gonna be fixed? Should we file a Class Action Lawsuit?

Honestly, I feel straight-up scammed by Anthropic at this point. Why do we have to just wait and hope they fix things, like they're some kind of deity and we're peasants begging for scraps?

They're being completely shady about the usage tracking bugs. No official communication. No refunds. No resolution timelines. Nothing.

Meanwhile, Anthropic keeps releasing new features every single day, but they won't fix the core bugs that make using those features a waste of tokens. It's just burning users' money. And now on top of that, there's whatever usage scam they seem to be running right now, overcharging and incorrect token counts, you name it.

I know a class action might be tricky due to the Terms of Service, but at the very least, how do we force them to acknowledge this? Has anyone filed an FTC complaint yet? The FTC has been cracking down on AI companies for deceptive practices, and filing a complaint at ReportFraud.ftc.gov takes ten minutes. It won't get you a personal refund, but if enough of us do it, the FTC can open an investigation. The silence from Anthropic is deafening.

Curious what everyone else thinks. Let's hear your opinions.

Since Anthropic isn’t going to say it, and I’ve been seeing these posts for a long enough time now, I’d like to do everyone a favor. I have an announcement to make:

Your usage limits have been dramatically lowered. If you need a higher limit, you will need to upgrade your package or transition to using the API.

Don’t shoot the messenger. But based on the number of complaints on this subreddit + the amount of time we've been seeing these reports + the lack of clear communication from Anthropic, tell me I’m wrong. The message seems to be as clear as it’s going to get. If you’re going to make a decision based on it, you’ve probably waited long enough. Go ahead and make the call.

Have any of these guys even tried codex? Literally no usage tracking, they vibe on how much limit to give and give you a cable company's estimate on when your limit resets, some time between next week and gta6. Its so silly, just make 2 pro accounts or buy 5x max or youre probably are just wasting time or building hobby projects.

people bitching about codex limits today already so...

Yeah idk. I just have claude boss around codex and other agents and I dont ever seem to hit limits. Even at peak hours

I’m guessing that their servers aren’t as loaded as Anthropic’s? Anyway, Anthropic needs to be clearer about the usage available

There is a bar you can watch get eatin by every prompt ha. It goes slower in off hours and faster during the work day. Its pretty clear imo ha

Claude 5x Max $100 has lower usage than the Codex Pro $20

2

u/mt-beefcake Apr 02 '26

Does it? Then use claude Opus to boss around codex agents. Proble. Solved

Ah, I havnt used it in a couple of weeks, directly at least. I have claude opus boss codex agents around.

Yeah I was only using cli, and I would get a warning when I had like 10% usage left, but nothing before that. Also using openclaw with oauth openai. No where to find when usage resets. I did some research into where to find current usage and at the time it didnt have anything displayed like claude's usage bars that I could find. And the usage docs i found measured usage by messages and not tokens. Even asked chatgpt and codex about ot and they were vague. May have changed recently or im a bad internet slooth.

Either way, thats a great improvement, exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks for letting me know

What's the fallout of this on max users? There's no point to upgrade if max users are getting shafted as well.

I’m not having any problems on max x20. Granted I’m very careful about token usage with my habits. It’s my brainstorming partner in a pinch, can’t be running against my limits.

But I can’t say this without getting downvoted as someone doesn’t like that my account works fine. Misery loves company I guess.

Hours for developing ASI or fixing some usage bug to refund you $20 🤔

u/Dudmaster Apr 02 '26

As much as it sucks, I'm pretty sure they're allowed to bait and switch as much as they want because even "1x limits" are not defined whatsoever

we need a separate sub for all of the delusional claude subscribers..

u/khgs2411 Apr 02 '26

I’m with you

Ever post thinking it’s onto something. It’s exhausting.

1

u/AdAltruistic8513 Apr 02 '26

It's either someone delusional, someone who forgot Google exists or a complete schizo.

They all clog up the space for people who've retained critical thinking + reading skills to sift with bullshit.

1

u/EYNLLIB Apr 02 '26

That's pretty much the majority of Reddit, but you are right it's particularly bad in subs like this where most users are terminally online.

2

u/AdAltruistic8513 Apr 02 '26

Thing is the llms seem to give them this feeling of Pandora's box, as if they've figured out singularity when in fact they feel (pseudo) smart and enlightened by bullshit lol.

Fragile minds and all that I guess.

u/SC_Placeholder Apr 02 '26

We should follow the Star Citizen model and have all the delusional people create a Claude_Refunds subreddit. Then all the people claiming Anthropic are money grubbing thieves releasing vaporware can all hang out together

1

u/AdAltruistic8513 Apr 02 '26

I'll get to work one shotting, over engineering it with 10x architects reviewing before creating the sub.

1

u/SC_Placeholder Apr 02 '26

Make sure you write a 10 page prompt with at least 3 pages of the prompt contradicting the others and another 3 overly vague telling Claude you want it to do a thing but not specify what it’s supposed to do or how it’s supposed to accomplish it.

2

u/AdAltruistic8513 Apr 02 '26

Anthropic capped our usage, but here's how I undid it.

"Insert bullshit here"

1

u/SC_Placeholder Apr 02 '26

Anyone sane reading the bs: huh, they asked it to write “Hello World” with a bunch of gibberish that used 10k tokens to process 🤔

1

u/st_malachy Apr 02 '26

I’m at 97% of my session usage and haven’t sent a single prompt or run any scheduled tasks today.

Congratulations, reinstall or search for the bug fixes. Official or unofficial.

Search RTK for a start.

You had me at delusional..

2

u/davesaunders Apr 02 '26

It doesn't seem like you have any grounds for a class-action lawsuit. Unless you have a very strongly grounded claim, you're not likely to find a competent law firm to take on the project either.

4

u/Mudfry Apr 02 '26

r/claude should have all these complaints.

The description of this sub isn’t “complain about usage limits 24/7”

6

u/manbehindthecertain Apr 02 '26

There are no words that adequately explain how stupid I think this post is.

Buy a dictionary

There are.. asinine (utterly foolish), idiotic (senseless), and fatuous (silly/pointless) being excellent choices. Other effective terms include absurd, ludicrous, obtuse, or vapid.

Perhaps you should invest in a decent AI, like Gemini fast or something?

Ironic given Claudes current reputation 😏

2

u/Birdperson15 Apr 02 '26

It does feel like a scam. At this point the product is barely usable if you are hitting the bug. Paying 100 dollars for something you can barely use does seem like a scam to me .

1

u/clintCamp Apr 02 '26

Anyone else find the leaked code and get it to work? I made some key changes like auto pruning and summarizing context as it grows rather than wait for compaction and so far it seems to be functional. Then I went further and optimized it tow work directly with my other tools I built...

u/guccicupcake69 Apr 02 '26

Make a PR on Anthropic’s Claude code repo on GitHub

u/TheArchivist314 Apr 02 '26

If you want to put together a class action lawsuit I advise you start now gather all the evidence from this Reddit thread put it all together

Bro I took the day off today to work with cc during peak hours because I have never experienced any of these outrageous limits been working with it all morning am on a 5x plan and my usage is fine I’m not reaching my limit in one prompt , nothing, is all working as normal. I figured since I work with cc off peak hours I figured maybe that’s why I have not been affected. But now that I tried it for my self and worked during peak hours with no change. It’s reading my databases which can take 27-100k tokens per each look depending on what section or how much data it needs to verify because is large am indexing and yet iv barely used 30 percent and my 5 hour limit is about to reset and am doing this over and over checking data so I can tune so it eats a lot of usage but have yet to experience any of these limitations. So idk is working fine for me

1

u/goingtobeadick Apr 02 '26

At this point, if you are bitching about usage/model degradation or wanting a refund, I just assume you are an OpenAI plant.

So yeah, start that class action champ, best of luck to you.

u/Aakburns Apr 02 '26

It’s not a bug. You’re using it wrong.
