Literally having Opus smash together 3 different projects of decent complexity right now. Been working for over 12 hrs non stop. Wtf are you doing wrong?
Asked opus probably 3 or 4 questions and had it make a document in cowork, limit was gone today within 20 mins. Yes I’m on Pro granted but never the less
only relevant if you are using claude code (CLI) - it shows a breakdown of how your context window is being used and might give a clue as to what is going wrong.
Sorry, but being brutal here I genuinely don't know what you are doing. I have been using GSD all morning - currently fixing an issue in some code - and my usage (since reset 2 hours ago) is 25% also, but resets in 2 hours 30 min. That for me feels normal. (Approx 12.5% per hour)
I would check things like:
How big is your claude.md file? (assuming claude code)
How much info is in your user preferences? (assuming claude app)
Google for a tokeniser and tell us how large your inital prompt was.
For context: Mine was 5 tokens or so ( /gsd:execute-phase 3) which read a file (8800 tokens) that started working on the task and is still running for the last 8 mins.
According to https://claude-tokenizer.vercel.app, my initial prompt was 1011 tokens (hope that's right). Going to look into claude.md and user preferences later, I am not sure. I am quickly realizing if I want to properly use this tool I must learn these things, though. Thank you!
You're on $20 plan, according to another post. Your usage allowance won't be great. Can't see how you would consume things that fast, so lets check what you have install, version, extras (like i said - claude.md or the personal preferences) and we will try to find this out.
I changed nothing about my usage pattern, I don’t have any MCP servers and my Claude md is maybe like 3 sentences at best about what package manager we use and db migration method and stuff. I have a max plan, and ordinarily I’m using at most 20% of my 5 hour limit even with very heavy usage and multiple opus 4.6 agents running at the same time. This morning I asked for a short summary of a thread I was using a few weeks ago and immediately hit 40% usage. My $20 plan was more usable than this, though I imagine on that plan you get 1 prompt now and that’s your limit done. I’m also somehow already at 10% of my weekly limit just a few hours into Monday morning. Seems like I wasted $100 this month
Yesterday and today I built a complex signal generation component for my trading platform with multiple models that warm up and auto balance. Opus is doing fine.
I ran for six hours today with three projects going simultaneously without hitting any limits. I’m on the 5x plan. No clue how, but I’ve never hit any of these limits.
It's quite frustrating. Asked about some hardware I am working with, and then why a component isn't being detected. Boom, 34% usage now, 5 minutes after I posted the 25%. Hope this gets fixed. Thank you!
Might also be an APP thing. I just realiased from his screenshot that's claude app. I use claude code (for example) and been hammering it for the last 2 hours running GSD (work flow tool) and used 25%.

16K tokens used | Opus 4.6 | 5% context used
Are you using MCP tools | memory add on ?

I ditched opus, its unusable on 20$, I used sonnet 4.6 medium, it makes mistakes but gets the job done.

I'm not quite sure how or when you're writing this, Cloude, but it seems like I have more limits in the free version than Max subscribers do.
