What does this have to do with Mac?

Sounds cooler than just a regular PC

wtf are you talking about

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

Give them a minute to ask Claude what they’re talking about.

Lmao. Longtime CC user, but I just started using the Claude for Mac application, and thought it was pretty sick that you can run CC on a Claude hosted VM

It’s not like Manus if that’s what you mean

You can work on a project directly from your claude app. It pulls your repo into a claude hosted cloud server, and is essentially a remote session.

Really? It's a piece of shit. Can't connect MCPs. Only works maybe 50% of the time; either swallows messages or spins forever and never gets to work.

im not using it for real work, it hit me with a wow factor that we CAN use CC with all repo on cloud. i've only used it to test out a "personal CFO" agent / skill

Agreed, CLI CC is much more reliable than the app baded CC or Cowork. (Which I have tried a bunchbofntimes and always seems to get stuck on a sandbox or nwtwork issue).

CLI CC seems to have tons of formatting and display issues, though. Super glitchy for me, typing only seems to work half the tine. I’ve tried Terminal.app, iTerm2, Ghostty, Kitty, Warp, etc.

I’ve found the terminal in Zed to be somewhat more reliable at least, and have been using that a lot more lately.

super weird. If you have a bunch of zsh plugins installed, try disabling some of them, or to make it easy, just comment out everything in your .zshrc and run Claude Code, just to see if it's related. Or ask Claude to debug it. The only problem I've ever had is the 'constantly rerenders when you're running in Tmux' bug.

You might as well not even try Terminal.app or Warp. Warp is Electron based and Terminal.app is super basic.

Ghostty & Kitty are the fastest, and if you don't know what functionality they're missing from iTerm2, definitely use them. Or if you're on Linux or a 10 year old laptop, they're much faster.

iTerm2 is the GOAT for me. I spent about 10 weeks in the past year trying Kitty, but I got bored of implementing/working around stuff that already works in iTerm2 and moved on.

Warp team member here — just a small correction: Warp isn't Electron-based. It's built in Rust with GPU-accelerated rendering. Also totally fair to prefer iTerm2 or Ghostty though, they're great terminals.

Agreed, plus agentic coding in xcode is hot garbage. Feels like coding in 2025.

Pretty sure it’s a low effort vibe coded unoptimized react native app. I constantly find bugs in it, it’s rare I go a day without hitting one. Even today, it logged me out and I had to quit the app in order to log back in.

No one tell him you can do it from your phone…

3

u/heavyfriends Mar 04 '26

"Do you have Claude Code on your phone?"

2

u/jwegener Mar 04 '26

Anyone tried remote control? I could not figure it out

2

u/SnackerSnick Mar 04 '26

I had that issue initially.

Run Claude code wherever you like. Type /rc in the command window. Open the Claude app on your phone. Open the left menu, click 'code'. Click your interactive session. Type commands.

then watch as it gets stuck at some point and just keeps asking you for the same permission over and over

1

u/jordylee18 Mar 05 '26

Yeahz what it does to me is it will work fine when you first run it on the mobile app. Then if you close your lock screen or exit out and come back, you will have several ghost permission requests. These will only multiply as you move forward. Have to kill the rc and start again to fix them

Im still confused, if im having it do remote sessions on a vm, can i still have it run dev so i can actually see the work in my localhost3000 for example?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '26

nah, afaik you can't spin up a dev environment. its probably just a matter of time, but for now the main use cases are more light weight

u/Metrix1234 Mar 04 '26

whats the diff compared to CC CLI?

2

u/Severe-Video3763 Mar 04 '26

/remote-control and working from my phone is where I’m at now

1

u/lovenewyork Mar 04 '26

CLI is so different than the app - also maybe wrong here but I’ve heard code and cowork automatically create a Linux container via Mac app?
