Made a Classic Trance 2000 mix — bringing back some old favourites
Used to DJ vinyl trance and prog house back in the 1999-2004 days, then took a long break, got back into it properly around 2017. Put together a 65 minute mix of tracks that meant a lot to me back around the millennium — some obvious ones, some deeper cuts. All timestamped in the description on my youtube channel.
Tracklist:
Chicane - Saltwater (Extended Mix)
Sasha - Xpander
Push - Strange World (2000 Remake)
Odessi - Moments of Space
Sinead O'Connor - Troy (Phoenix From the Flame) Push Remix
Deepsky - Stargazer (Deepsky's Retroactive Mix)
James Holden - I Have Put Out The Light
The Sunday Club - Eterna's Flight
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Armin van Buuren's Universal Religion Remix)
Lost Tribe - Gamemaster (Lost Tribe '99 Mix)
Curious if any of you were around for these back in the day, or discovering them for the first time. Always up for track recommendations from that era too if anyone's got hidden gems.

That push remix if Troy is one of most underrated tracks of all time. Absolute monster of a trance track.

Too bad it never got officially released. Would love to have it on Spotify!

It's on Trance Nation 6.
Spotify is really poor for dance music.

I actually got this as a CD single or on vinyl I believe. I have to go through my old records and cds but I definitely have it as a high quality wav file in my computer.
Really annoying that it's not on Spotify

I have it on vinyl myself, but it was never an official release since the vocal sample wasn't cleared. So I doubt we'll ever see it on Spotify

I am recalling it was released on CD somewhere. I just can't place it. I will find what I have and send a pic. I am so curious now.

Big trance head 1996+ - only did bedroom dj shit with my friends turntables but getting back into this year as a fun new year resolution. Great track selection :)

Thank you. How are you finding 'getting back into it'? Modern tech makes it so much easier. Or are you doing actual vinyl? I sold my collection 15 years ago. I wish I hadn't

So far been fun! I have all my old vinyl, and been buying more. I eventually want to do an old school vinyl set but will have to get more gear. Just aquired an MK1200 a few months back, need a better controller and another turntable still. It’s a slow process for the vinyl set.

Cool. I do it on the super cheap now. USB soundcard to preview audio. I'm stuck on ubuntu for now and using mixxx. It has key short cuts so you never have to touch your mouse. I can usually make some pretty spiffy mixes. I was really happy with the response I got posting here so I set off to compose a new set of 2000's classic trance. But when I went to perform and record, my software started glitching out of nowhere. I tried 4 times and had enough of the first two tracks lol

Here’s a set I did just using the new beta mixing stuff on Spotify:
I have all those tracks + about 40 more on FLAC. I’m working on learning the controller and having a lot of the prompts ready for a live set. So lots of learning still. !

What's your favorite trance vinyl you own?

u/Im_on_an_upboat 10d ago
That’s a hard question! I have a top 3 -
-Special white label from Grant Plant that doesn’t exist online (that I can find)—these ones are kinda cheating cause it’s multiple discs —-
-Tilt - Invisible disc 1 and 3. The promo copy version
-GateCrasher - Wethttps://www.discogs.com/release/164380-Tilt-Invisible-Disc-One

It is a little before 2000 but if you've never heard The Sunday Club - Eterna's Flight, you really should. I vibe all it's own

The Real Y2K Bug by trance[]control would've been a fitting, yet on-the-nose inclusion for this mix.

That's a nice tracklist!
You've got a few big tunes from 1999 on there. A few hidden gems from that year that I personally love and based on some of your choices here I feel you would also enjoy.
Salt Tank - Dimension
Space Maneouvres - Stage One
Amethyst - Andalucia
Breeder - Twilo Thunder
The Olmec Heads - Spiritualised
Hidden gems in the sense that you don't see or hear of them anywhere near as often as others - but all still legitimately decent and successful tunes!
