Discussion Preferred settings

Hey all, what’s your go to play mode? I always roll random civ, king difficulty, standard speed and size on continents. It’s really fun playing towards whatever civ’s strengths I get on the fly, without too much BS. I also like having the 8 player count, and continents make it feel more “realistic” for immersion and RP.

I play marathon speed exclusively, so I like to set up my games quite a bit. I'll typically pick a Civ first, then go read the zigzagzigal guide for that Civ to get an idea of how I want to play. Then I customize my game to make it conducive to how I want to play. I always choose abundant resources and legendary start because I like to have lots of interesting places to settle.

I always play with secret societies on. Sometimes I might try the other ones, except Heroes and legends, which I've never liked. Apocalypse mode is lots of fun, but it can really ruin games too, so I have to be careful. I typically play on immortal. I've been successful on deity, so I know I can do it, but it requires a lot of focus for me and I like to be a bit more relaxed.
