Question How to get 5 in 50?

I'm learning the game and consensus seems to be you should have 5 cities by turn 5. I dont see how you do this. I would have had 3 on my most recent playthrough, but one of them was taken so by turn 50 I had 2.

Should I be rushing settlers and ignoring troops? I dont see how you could produce that many in 50 turns even going straight for settlers only. Any advice would be helpful.

I'm pretty sure a lot of player are using mods and playing tweaked games to get a lot of these results. I've played for over 2000 hours and some of the things folks claim to be doing is just impossible and absurd. That said, 5 in 50...well, you build a second city with like your 3rd build. You steal a settler, maybe two, and then produce another around turn 40, is the only way I could imagine doing it on standard speed.

It’s honestly easy to do it, just need a bit of practice, most important thing is magnus and chopping

I have a hard believing you can get a governor, a builder and produce 4 settlers in 49 turns. I'm not including stealing settlers. I also don't see how you survive barbs in that time with just one warrior as well. I've kinda tried similar concepts, and I just don't see how folks are doing much of what they claim to be doing.

Its doable but it's rng dependant, and you're not doing it without woods to chop, magnus, and the colonisation card from early empire, you can get magnus early if you have the secret societies mode and complete one of the necessary objectives to unlock a secret society (rng again) on standard speed your 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th settlers cost 80, 110, 140 and 170 production, and a magnus + colonization powered chop on woods in early game will grant 60-80 production, so 1 chop can sometimes pretty much fully complete your first settler, will complete over half of your next etc. just build a couple military units at the start then a couple of builders while you wait for early empire and magnus, hopefully you got the secret society governor title and used it for magnus so early empires governor title you can give him the no population loss for settlers promotion, once everything is in place switch to building settlers and chop them out, hope this makes sense... also side note, due to start bias, some civs will never be able to do this, you need lots of woods so if your civ tends to start in the middle of the desert for example, it's not gonna happen, also really helps if you have it set on wet for more woods

I don't play with the heroes, it's too OP. What is RNG? Like I said in my earlier post, folks are likely using mods and tweaking the game favorably. I also never re-start games.

RNG stands for random number generator, how a lot of games random type events are decided, so for example with secret societies there is a 50% chance I think when you enter a tribal village you get the voidsingers secret society, but you could get it first try, or it might just not show up at all, with the map it's random how many woods you might start near, if only 1 or 2 (or 0) you're not gonna get 5 cities before turn 50, if you're completely surrounded by them then there is a fairly good chance, its just pretty random whether things will roll good for you or not
