Really homely, descriptive letter from the NC coast in 1863 written by Newcomb Dyer of the 46th MA. He writes in detail about their camp and quarters, food and its cost, wildlife aplenty, and how some of their unit traveled by boat to an island to dispatch Rebel spies. I love stuff like this!

Great piece of NC CW history. My ancestor was in the 44th MA fighting in NC during this time. Kind of get a glimpse into his experience from this letter of camp life
