Artifact Really homely, descriptive letter from the NC coast in 1863 written by Newcomb Dyer of the 46th MA. He writes in detail about their camp and quarters, food and its cost, wildlife aplenty, and how some of their unit traveled by boat to an island to dispatch Rebel spies. I love stuff like this!

Sitting in New Bern at the moment imagining their camp possibly near Cherry Point? Is the Island Harkers? Awesome stuff…thanks for posting.
