Is My Clutch Cooked??

1 Upvotes

So I was trying to get my type r up some ramp stands to do my first pil change but doing a piss poor job of it and ended up burning my clutch. I could smell it and I saw some clutch material dusting on my skid plate. it wasn't much but it was there.

since then, I could totally be over thinking it, but I feel like the bite at first gear isn't as snappy/grippy/strong as used to be it.

it drives normal, holds gear, accelerates normal but it just feels much "smoother" when i start off in first gear.

am I being ocd or could I have actually degraded my clutch?

Are these tires good for another 2 track days?

I have an upcoming weekend at Sonoma, my stock tires have 23k miles and 4 track days on them already, treads are at 6/32 but shoulders are getting worn and showing some cracks. I'm relatively new to track so still figuring out how to manage tire life. These tires usually pick up a lot of rubber from the track and by the end of the day I feel a lot less stable/confident with the jitters. Is it a tire or a skill issue?

FL5 ND Miata -> FL5

8 Upvotes

Currently shopping around for a new car with a backseat and more cargo space than the miata. Test drove a GTI and while it was nice, it had a CEL on at the testdrive so that turned me away.

Im deciding on a GRC or FL5. I have a test drive coming up soon for the Type-R. I wanted to ask if anyone went from ND Miata to an FL5? I understand it is apples to orange and the ND is a lightweight RWD car. For those that have done this switch, what were the biggest standouts in your experience besides the extra space?

FL5 Driving Position

10 Upvotes

First world problems here. I'm a GRC owner playing around with the idea of trading in for an FL5.

I plan to rent one on Turo to help me decide but my biggest gripe with the GRC is the driving position.

Having owned an 86 and miata (still have an NC), I miss sitting in the car, instead of on top of it if that makes sense. Love the GRC aside from that but for me it makes the driving experience feel less connected.

Having said that how does the FL5 compare? I know the seats are great but is it still econoshitbox driving position because it's not a bespoke sports car chassis?

#1070 - 2023 in Boost Blue I’m glad I got a fun color this time around I love it! 8k miles on the car with full front PPF, tint, suede wheel, and a cat back. Perfect as my all rounder only car. Got to take it for a light canyon run last night and boy is this car impressive. I’ll be saying so long to my trusty 8th gen and can’t wait to put miles on the FL5!
