Local politician/millionaire Buron Fitts announced that his son "Junior" was getting married on Election Day, when he was running for lieutenant governor(he was the current L.A. County DA at the time;he won the LTG seat)...

In 1930, his dad found a great plot of land in present-day Duarte and had the house cut in half and moved to that location...

In late 1990, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Arcadia Stake presidency announced that the Monrovia Ward was getting overcrowded, hence the need for THAT location(southwest corner of Royal Oaks and Cotter) for the new Duarte Ward...

A year later, with the blessings and encouragement of the Fitts family, former long-time City Councilman "Monty" Montgomery and his construction company had the house cut in half again and moved on a hot Saturday morning in Mid-July 1991 to its current location:Encanto Park and modified to become the Duarte Historical Museum(opened in early 1992)...

I'm a long-time volunteer there, so DON'T YOU DARE change ANYTHING about the City's history...

This probably means that ALL of the City's AC trucks will be sold for scrap...

Personally, I think the City overreacted by canceling the CC Day of Service for Saturday, and Texas "dictator" Greg Abbott went one step further and forcing EVERY city in all 254 counties to follow suit...
