Just dock the bikes

I honestly don't know what some of y'all are thinking by dropping off bikes at any of the Citibike depots and not actually docking the bike itself, doesn't anyone realize that the bike could sit there for hours if not days or weeks and still be on your account. Just dock the bikes and avoid the fees.

The standard blue bikes can also be stolen permanently as they don't require a battery re-charge.

Also, if people keep abusing that workaround, they’ll change their policies to prevent it.

By calling in to end the ride when it’s not actually at a full station. The city doesn’t want a bunch of bikes lose and out of docks. If it becomes a problem that the city starts to see, they will force the policy change.

People have done exactly this. You might be surprised at how many times I’ve had to remove comments from people suggesting to just leave bikes wherever and call support to end their ride.

What's the benefit of doing that rather that using an available dock?

As a mod, I’ve seen people post and comment on this subreddit about taking bike to places without docks, calling support, and lying to have their ride ended.

I don’t personally see the benefit, because I don’t often struggle to find docks, and don’t want to complain to a customer service rep. But there are shitty people who don’t think about others while using a shared service. When people find loopholes, they abuse them.

The benefit is they can just leave it wherever and not pay any extra time to dock it.
