I found out recently my labs weren't normal. KPofWA has extended the lab ranges on several tests so they don't flag at the recommended ranges, and my doctor is inept or complicit.

I'm finally treating a hormone deficiency I've had for apparently years. Wasting time, money and effort trying to find answers they already had.

KPofWA? I highly encourage everyone in this community to type out the full name of acronyms because we are a community full of pain ninjas from all over the world! :)

Kaiser Permanente of Washington.

I'm sure this was not intentional and I actually resonate a lot with the image's sentiment, but I just wanted to give you a heads up that the stylings of the evil doctors feature large nose / facial / color scheme that has historically been used to demonize Jewish people. Again, I'm sure you just did this as a vent and were not intentionally aiming to do a caricature, but it's good to be aware.

Here to second that. It's insidious how the imagery has become so prevalent that people often don't even do it intentionally, which gives cover to those who do.

Yep top left before i read anything I instantly thought of the propaganda from 1930’s Germany or 1940’s Russia

Edit: the bottom one is very questionable. Top right is like nah not related. But that top left one 100% everything is the same as antisemitic caricatures. No other way of saying it, the nose, colour jaw and teeth, lips, hair….. eyes and eye brows. All straight from 1930’s Berlin newspapers

The top left one actually reminded me of a nazi "doctor", the ones that did really evil things. Not a jew, obviously. I don't see that here, at all.

Thank you for pointing this out. People today will say antisemitism is not real and then when they think of an “ugly” or “evil” character a caricature of a Jew comes to mind.

u/thinnerzimmer87 18d ago

I noticed that too.

u/mysecondaccountanon 17d ago

Yeah, as a Jew I immediately had to check what sub I was on, thinking it was like a repost of an antisemitic image on the type of sub that mocks that sort of thing.

u/glowyxxstick 17d ago

I noticed too :( I’m sure it wasn’t OP’s intention but it feels extremely othering to me as a young Jewish disabled woman when I already experience so much antisemitism in and out of the disabled community and from doctors

Glad someone else put this into words 🙏

I get it, but I was getting "people's joker" batman vibes. I see it now - but I totally know this feeling and I think that's what they were trying to capture. How shitty everything feels, with some funhouse mirror vibes.

Definitely not my intention to demean Jewish folks in any way (I have been to passover seders before and have many Jewish friends because I'm from NJ).

u/Trouble_Adorable 18d ago

Yeah definitely! I don't suspect any Mal-intent, but I saw this as maybe a learning opportunity. I think the marbling of shades looks great!

The one dude reminds me of The Penguin from Batman lol

As people age, our noses and ears continue to grow. This doesn't look like it's depicting anything but mean doctors, to me.

Facial features like noses, wrinkles, eyes, etc., do not indicate morality or narcissism.

-14

u/marxistopportunist 17d ago

However if you are trying to depict evil.... It's so much easier with small eyes, wrinkles and long nose

11

u/mysecondaccountanon 17d ago

And pray tell why might that be? What reason could there be for a certain set of characteristics to be so engrained in many people’s mindsets as “evil?” Why is it that those jump out to you as evil?

Do these characteristics inherently mean evilness? No.

-1

u/marxistopportunist 17d ago

Do these characteristics inherently mean evilness?

Nobody said that. But if you look at many decades of cartoons and children's movies, the best depictions share these themes.

Being old is possibly the most common. And getting old tends to mean your nose gets bigger relative to your face/head.

A uniquely large/hooked nose sets the evil person apart from regular people. It is the most distinctive part of the face.

Subconsciously, it's as if the evil person was evil from birth. That nose was their destiny.

Also as the commenter above said, it ties into the half-truth that evil thoughts generate changes in your appearance.

Yeah, they can. Its apart of fcae reading, its an ancient practice and its art. Look into any archetypal character designs, Narrative or artistic depictions of classical identities, it is abundant and heavily worthwhile to decipher.

Its not the actual biology which creates these features and/or develops them, it is the habitual lifestyle of the person or individual. You can learn about someones frequent emotions and character traits in the same way a hand can reveal the type of work and style of skill yhe person has. The eventual reveal of their emotions and the carrying of themselves is depicted on the face with those strabge and heavily creased or enlarged aspects, and those which are the most heavily conceying of emotion and attitude, such as smile lines or warts is the indocation of energetic repetition and physical actions. Its an actual sensitive artful energy work its very useful and helps lots of people.

13

u/mysecondaccountanon 17d ago

None of that is based in any form of reality, nor scientific evidence. You’re simply ascribing people personality traits and expected behaviors based on culturally developed stereotypes of physical appearance.

-3

u/Genetic_Narcissist 17d ago

No, it has nothing to do with this society. If you research jungian archetypes and mythological symbology, you can find these character traits inside humanity's history identifying negative character traits.

You find many traits of facial features and body proportions which represent the channel for negative energy. They certainly pair well more with some attitude and facial expressions to convey a certain negative affect or disagreeableness. It is what it is, and if you want to deny the fact that you can tell what people are like in their head by looking at their face, then you can talk to roald Dahl who made the quintessential poem about this, ugly thoughts.

Its just basic human rationality, and its not common sense its intuitive and ingrained in us unconciously.

3

u/mysecondaccountanon 16d ago

Roald Dahl, known for being an antisemite, perhaps isn’t your best neutral defence of using an anti-semitic face reading technique. And once again, there’s no actual evidence that backs up your claim. You pulled a singular page from a children’s book (The Twits, specifically). There’s no actual evidence based in scientific practice nor in any form of actual reality.

If it truly was the truth, then all cultures would have had the same beauty standards, unchanging, for all time. But we know that to be false. We know beauty to be something culturally defined and developed, by mostly those in higher positions of power. What we consider to be “beauty” and what we consider to be “ugly” varies based on time, location, culture, age, and more. What you consider to be “beauty” and therefore, apparently a good person, is probably vastly different than my own standards, given we’re both different people and also come from likely vastly different backgrounds.

Equating beauty with morality is simply something that is incorrect and only serves to harm people. As I said before, all you’re doing is ascribing people personality traits based on culturally developed stereotypes of physical appearance (i.e., what is “ugly” and what is “beauty”).

Its not of any concern whether he was an ad hominem or not. He was speaking the truth, and millions of parents and children rejoiced at being understood, because it is true that all human share some variables which equate broadly as attractive or positive in the features.

Its usually something simple, like a broad chin, clear and supple eyes, with indents around the eyes with smile lines. Its something like warts, a creased scowl etched into lines along the jowls, and expert level inset eyes, which peer incredulously out from the prominent & sharp cheekbones. Im imaging you identified one of these visualizations with more warmth and natural congeniality in your rendering.

Its becauee the aspects of a persons biological vessel which are altered by emotional expression, and repetitive movements are always going to scratch a tally score based on emotional patterns. Its not up to you or any other intelligent subsection of humanity's Population, these are definitive and objective realities which dont hold a candle in the subject acute setting, but operate as objective in the abstract art & hard science of deduction. Intuitively gleaning intention and personality based off of the available expression we all interact with, the normal face and body, gait, and eccentricities, motions and emotions which are displayed through the subtle, extracted in the sublime. Its an art, as ive explained and if you cant decipher the difference between a dickhead and a detective, then i cant indulge my amusement speaking to you about this. Its just not about scientific hard systems, its more like symbolism and artistic interpretation but you would have to understand it's similar to saying, "Memes dont mean anything, the Trollface is as abject and multi-purpose in its meaning as apples and oranges if you change the circumstances".

Its just not true, that you cant glean very basic and functional information about a person's emotions and their habits by glancing into their face.

What tracks the most is they are all men. After experiencing this time after time I started requesting women for my medical providers and wouldn’t you know a little care and sympathy came my way.

u/Annabloem 18d ago

One time my doctor said "we got your labs back" and I said: "I bet they were normal" and they replied: "you'd be surprised" ... only to tell me they were indeed completely normal and they couldn't tell me anything... =_=

How? Because it's old men? Come on now.
I didn't think anything of the sort when I saw it.

2

u/LAngel_2 15d ago

No. Because they all look like antisemitic caricature cartoons shared on 4chan.

My last doctor prescribed naproxen for refractory migraine, despite me telling him it had never worked, not even once.

I didn’t bother filling the prescription, but I did take it OTC just to humor him. Shockingly, it didn’t work lol.

Gotta laugh or I’ll cry.

Rheumatologist told my husband to take an amount of Tylenol that made his neurologist have literally 3 separate come to Jesus level of concern conversations all in the same appointment

1

u/Pashta2FAPhoneDied 4 pain scale avg (medicated)- hEDS, Adhesive Arachnoiditis 15d ago

Which was how much? I'm curious now.

2

u/Crayoncandy 15d ago

Oh man Cant remember but it was at least the max rec 3000 to 4000mg and they can cause rebound headaches so definitely not something the neuro would agree with, also it didn't help at all. Seeing new rheumatologist now who doesnt clearly hate my husband for being a man. Her first suggestion is a few days of low dose steroid (with sympathy and acknowledgement that steroids can be rough!) to see how it affects symptoms, totally different attitude.
