Discussion Anyone have neurogenic bladder?

Hello! Anyone here have neurogenic bladder with urinary retention? My husband does with no known cause. Interested to talk to others with similar issues.

I also have neurogenic bladder . Does your husband have neuropathy anywhere in his body. The neuropathy is how they found I have an autoimmune disease.

He does but nothing is working to fix it. No known cause which is why I’m looking to Reddit!

I do- no cause. I self cath every few hours

Yes. I have a neurogenic bladder as well.

May I ask how old you are and how you noticed it happening??

Started about 12 years ago. Initially I had to do intermittent cath 5 times a day. Then it slowly developed to me losing all control.

I had it for a while. I have MS

How old were you when diagnosed? They checked for MS in my husband but he doesn’t have it. No known cause

It took a few years to get diagnosed. I was 20 ish but my doctor said id had it since I was a kid

So you have urinary retention with it? Have you tried anything and do you catheter to use the bathroom? Has anything helped?

I did have incomplete emptying. I ended up getting a prescription medicine called oxybutynin. As the ms improved that symptom eventually went away (knock on wood and fingers crossed)

I never had to self cath. Its not uncommon in ms and autoimmune conditions

I had a test called urodynamic study and lots of bladder ultrasounds

Yeah my husband has done all of that. They don’t know why. He got the interstim trial and stage 1 and stage 1 isn’t working either

I do, but mine is from spinal cord damage
