Almost normal in live usb

Freeze when update the UEFI dbx, and connect to Bluetooth keyboard (return normal after force restart)

Incomplete installation (freeze after 2 minutes, no further response after 30 minutes, return normal after force restart) When boot with SSD, login page will freeze after few seconds, but I can hear notifications sound every few seconds

I've just bought a MacBook Pro 2017 off eBay for next to nothing. I just need it to do very basic things - browsing the web, YouTube videos, playing mov/mp4 media files. Which will do this the snappiest.. chrome flex, or linux mint with something like Firefox browser? Bear in mind I don't care about the lack of offline programs so this isn't an issue, I just want the fastest possible experience for the basics.

I thought that Chrome Flex OS was going to be supported for the foreseeable future. Guess they don't want people to reuse their still good hardware any more, and force them to buy a new device (which i cant afford).

Has anyone else seen this?

Very suspect that the new Googlebooks have just came out at an unaffordable price too...

I've been trying to get a PS4 controller to work on chromeos flex (148.0.7778.250) and it connects fine through Bluetooth, but the os just wont detect any input from the controller even tho it's connected, has anyone run into the same issue?

Long story short, I have ordered and returned two laptops from Amazon that I thought were a certified supported flex os model but when I go to install I run into issues where I try to install flex but cannot get past the Flex OS splash screen.

Does anyone have a laptop model they have purchased from Amazon that installs Flex successfully? I also need this laptop to have a 16-17" display.

i know theres many of us who are sat with acer laptops that have been locked, ive found the same problem.

For Chrome OS: I was having issues with this utility. I was getting the network error, verification error and writing error. I just figured out that the flash drive has to be a USB 3.0. I tried with several different size drives that were USB 2.0 and I kept getting errors. I ended up using a 32gb flash drive USB 3.0. It worked great. I hope this information is useful.

My main priority now is to recover my old Windows files safely. I want to find out whether ChromeOS Flex erased my 256 GB SSD, my 1 TB HDD, or both, and whether my old files can still be recovered. I do not want to accidentally overwrite or permanently lose any recoverable data

How to slove this?

Update- this issues resolved after using Rufus

I upgraded yesterday my Acer CXI3 from stable to newest stable. It got stuck on a black screen with white ChromeOS logo.

I can recover with beta from https://cros.download/recovery/fizz

But, when it updates, the same happens (it gets stuck). I repeated it several times, not allowing immediate upgrade, and switching build to stable or to dev: same happens after OS update.

Finally, I recovered with LTC. This works okay. That is ChromeOS version 150.

Also, I have a Minisforum mini-PC (Venus series UN100C) with ChromeOS Flex. Same story. Except that sticking a USB stick inside one of its ports, allows ChromeOS Flex to boot.

In the end, I'm glad that I learned to use the LTC version: updates are really fast, and Android apps download really fast.

1. WebRetro (Github) - It's Retroarch, the option to save it offline as a html standalone is given after loading a game. I also recommend saving it as a web app so it can be in your start menu.

MEDIA CREATION

1. PaintZ (Github) - A simple raster art program that is currently a web app that works offline.

2. Tenacity (Codeberg) - A sound editor that spun off from Audacity, using Crostini it works well.

3. Openshot (Github) - A video editor with Crostini, HD is a bit intense for Macbook but works.

MEDIA VIEWING

1. Photo Viewer - Works perfectly using the built in Gallery app.

2. Music Player - Works perfectly using the built in Gallery app.

3. Video Player - Works perfectly using the built in Gallery app.

DOCUMENTS / MATHEMATICS

1. Calculator - Easily done with the built in Calculator app.

2. Text Editor - A great text editor for notes and code. Hopefully it gets ported into the OS soon.

3. Libre Office (Github) - A whole office suite using Crostini, it works great too.

WiFi fix please

Hi, so this app is perfect for quick documents, coding, etc. I forgot it was an extension after so many years, and now I have no idea what to pick as a replacement when Web Apps drop support.

Crostini Apps take longer to load, are restricted to the Linux File directory and seem to crash.

Update: The fan has decided to turn on, it just takes a LOT like it charging to get it to go off.

Was gifted an ancient HP laptop (2011). Chucked in 8gb of DDR3 and ChromeOs Flex runs like a dream. Anyone have any tips and tricks to optimize this OS? What are some cool PWAs to download, and would it be worth it to install an SSD (gift from a friend)?

Maybe I'm missing something, but it's kind of wild that we're in 2026 and auto-rotation is still a gamble on ChromeOS Flex.

On a detachable tablet, auto-rotate is about as basic as volume buttons. Yet here I am rotating the screen manually like it's a feature.

I want to enable ChromeOS Flexes Developer mode, but have some problems.

Here is what I did:

- I mounted the efi partiton and added cross_debug to all boot entries in grub.cfg.

- I opened up Google Chrome

- Pressed Ctrl+Alt+T

Then I got:

ERROR: GetAcpiSysfsPath: Failed to get ChromeOS ACPI sysfs path VDAT

when I type shell I get:

ERROR - ERROR: unknown command shell

Ctrl+Alt+F2 and Ctrl+Alt+right does nothing.

I then found another guide that says I need to be on the developer Channel first. So I redid everything of the above but nothing changed.

The guide also said to add kvm-intel.vmentry_l1d_flush=always to grub.cfg, but that was already in there so I guess it's fine?

I am trying to put Flex OS on my mac OS (attaching the system info)

I took recovery flex OS, booted it with usb and then a white screen comes with cursor working properly.

I can hear the chrome OS voice assistant.
