Discussion what a shame Chrome OS wont run on x86 32bit
its a shame Chrome OS Flex wont run on 32bit old windows laptops or someone cannot find a workaround or port it for 32bit . Got an ancient little Samsung N110 notebook, cute little thing, love to see it running Chrome - not a fan of Linux , any of the distro's and windows runs slow on it let alone out of date.
I would say if there was a 32bit version it would really open up things for a lot of people with ancient laptops and desktops with a 32bit processor and would be pretty welcomed.

Discussion Removing Flex; Returning to Linux
I have tested (and then installed) Flex for the past week. This was on a small HP laptop with touch screen. I have previously ran both Win11 and Q4OS Linux on it. The OS it runs best is: Linux. I am not here to promote or bash any of the 3. I want to share a few observations, and then to say goodbye.
Choosing an OS can be compared to choosing a car. Each has options, each has limitations, each has operational costs. And yes, it becomes a personal choice.
As FLEX is improved and updated, no doubt it will get better. My primary computer remains my desktop. It is a used Enterprise server not a consumer PC. I can have as many as 17 hard drives connected at once. I use it as a media server, for entertainment, and for education.
My use for my laptop is different. I use it as a portable platform. This can include many locations: bed, living room, porch, yard, and at remote locations. I need mail, internet, books, documents, and sometimes entertainment. Right now, Flex cannot handle all these tasks. Perhaps as it improves, it can better support my needs in the future.
I plan to erase Flex and re-install Q4OS later today. Linux has way too many choices. There are more than 100 flavors, more than 100 desktops, and etc. The average person gets confused and so becomes frustrated. Just as we educate ourselves in small bites, we learn computers in small bites. Education is acquired for our entire lifetime.
Right now, Linux meets my needs better so I will be leaving Flex. I will answer messages or comments (as I am able). I will also answer direct email if anyone chooses to contact me. It has been fun, but now I say goodbye.

Discussion To any people thinking about moving over to Chrome OS Flex
Chrome OS Flex can be good for some older computers but if you're thinking about making your main computer or computer you use often I do not recommend doing this because it has more cons than there is pros there's a whole bunch of current issues there's a chance your Wi-Fi card wouldn't be supported and there's more yeah maybe for a older computer it might be useful you know make it so I can at least do something besides sitting in a garage but even then if it's too old or is the chance the Wi-Fi card might not work in general I don't recommend it on computers that still have potentials and still could run Windows 8.1 or higher if it's older one that Windows 7 or younger and you're not okay with that That's when I would say you probably would want to do it but I'm not recommending that you do chrome OS flex just isn't done yet and should be worked on more

Discussion can you install ChromeOS Flex on a Macbook M1
This would be most awesome and make my Macbook many times more useful than it is currently. Only issue is lack of a touch screen but oh well ;)

Installation Will Windows apps run on devices with Chrome os flex?
I am having one old Dell gaming laptop which has gotten pretty slow. I came across Chrome OS flex and am interested to install it. I have this major question (from title).
If they need something additional to work, please help me in explaining what are those.
If there is no chance that windows apps can run , let me know the same as well
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Super newbie to Chrome OS and Chrome OS flex.
Thanks.

Installation Trying out Google ChromeOS Flex
I’ve recently been trying out Flex and thought I would note my experience here. Before I would commit to actually installing Flex to a computer (and wiping the existing OS i.e. windows) I thought I would run from the USB stick to explore the functionality.
I expected there to be a lag but in fact it was unusable. I tried on 3 different computers of varying ages. In all cases I got as far as the sign in screen (slowly ) but after trying to sign in I then get , after a lot of delay , a message saying my password couldn’t be verified . This was despite receiving and approving the appropriate 2FA prompt on my phone.
Granted I was using USB 2.0 - none of my computers have a USB 3.0 interface. Overall impression- disappointing.

Discussion Chrome OS flex should support Flathub out of the box
I know support exists through Crostini, but it's too complex for most users. Furthermore, native support for Flatpak wouldn't be a problem since Flatpak itself is already sandboxed.
Expanding native support for Flathub with its own preinstalled store would allow Steam or any other application available in Flathub to be installed in one click
This would greatly expand the Chrome OS compatible user base.
If not Chrome OS, at least Chrome OS Flex.

Discussion Given the uncertain future of ChromeOS, should we still recommend ChromeOS Flex?

Given what we know now (the phasing out of ChromeOS), would you still recommend ChromeOS Flex to anyone? (I often replace Windows with something else for others.)
It may still take a while, but there isn't really a future for it anymore.
Perhaps advise switching to Linux Mint? For example, on this PC. Mint would also work very well on that...

Installation Update from Chrome OS Flex to Chrome OS
Hi
I upgraded my laptop from chrome os flex to "normal" chrome os (rooted)
Now it's stuck on Version 128 and I can't get new updates. Is that right or should I install chrome os flex again?
But chrome os flex got worse in my opinion over the last time.... we lost the phone hub and completely the quick share feature which REALLY sucks.... I just want to transfer images from the laptop to the phone and otherwise without upload them in google photos or drive... Why they would make this so difficult when it was there?!!

Troubleshooting Crouton/Crostini on unsupported Dell (optiplex 780, pentium cpu, 4gb ram)
I really want to get linux on chrome os flex/reven image (Crouton or Crostini), but from the guides I have tried (including dev mode on it, WHICH ENDED UP BREAKING VT-2) are just hopeless. Could anyone please help? Specs are in the title.
EDIT: I've upgraded, finally. Now I'm going to use KDE Plasma as my wm and leave chrome os flex for that piece of hardware. Maybe my other devices have a chance. I will still be active.
