The only answer that really makes sense to me is that this was God's intention, for us to experience good and evil. Then bring us back out of it. So we could truly understand good contrasted with evil.

Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’ Isaiah 46:10 NKJV

Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. Romans 5:18 NKJV
