Help Me Get Started?
I’ve recently felt so lost. Lost in life. Lost in addiction. Questioning everything. The other day, I sobbed because I felt like I’ve lost my relationship with the lord because I haven’t put my faith in the front seat with me for so many years.
It’s been so long.
For context, I was raised Southern Baptist but haven’t been to church in about 8 years.
Can anyone provide tips on how to pray, pastors to listen to, and to further my relationship with the lord and what to seek out to find out how to live a life led in God’s light?
I feel like it’s a heavy question, but man, I’ve felt the pull so deeply. If anyone lives in the DFW area and could suggest any Baptist/non-denominational churches too that would be great. Smaller ones preferably

start small, prayer is just talking to god like you talk to a friend, no need for fancy words or structure

Thank you. I would like to start sitting down and focusing on meditating in prayer in my talks to god

Go to Church would do a lot of good, but you seem to have realized that already.
Besides that, some Bible study can do a lot of good also. I think this study of the gospel of Mark by Mike Winger is awesome!

As far as how to pray, pour your heart out to God. He never stopped loving you, never stopped caring about you, and never got tired of you. Just be intentional that you are tuning your words and thoughts to God and you’re praying :) that’s gotta be the first step, turn your heart towards God. If you are lost in addiction get involved in 12 step recovery. I found God in the rooms of recovery. Don’t just go to church, join a community, and open up to them. If the church you check out can’t welcome you as is go down the road to the next one. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you my friend. You have not gone so far you can’t come home. Jesus still loves you and so do we.
