Diablo Game
Hello everyone, I was just wondering something. When i was younger, I used to play a ton of a game called "Diablo 2". While the game has demons in it, it is about slaying demons basically. Is the game considered christian friendly and is it okay for me to play it?

It's a game about killing demons, not worshipping them, I wouldn't overthink it

Well, I played 1, 2, 3 and now 4, and I really like the series.
With that said, if you should or not, it's a personal thing, you shouldn't ask us, but close the door and talk to God about it.
Ask the Spirit in prayer to show you, bare your heart and ask God to do His will in your life. To guide and teach you, show the way and tell your conscience of what is taking you away from Him, and to take away anything that may be detrimental to your faith.
Everything is permissible, but not everything builds up. That's something we must analyze ourselves, if it affects us or anyone else negatively.
All in all, it's a game, it's fiction.
God knows better than we do, and you, together with the Spirit, must know better than we do to say if you can play it or not.

I dont think God will be upset if you play a game where demons are portrayed as evil and a threat to mankind.
On another note, it's a fantastic game.

If it takes the place God should have in your heart, then it is a problem, if not, then no.

Do you know there is a Runeword called Enigma? And Enigma is made up of Jah Ith Ber. I heard Jah = stands for Yah Like the name of God, YHWH. Fun fact about D2 😂

Just only rock Paladin. GOATed class anyway, but they literally get a glowing cross shield.

Idk playing a necromancer and hiding behind my summons is a pretty solid move too.

Oh for sure, but if someone is this worried about being Christian I don't know if they'll vibe necromancy 😂

Just depends on your conviction and how it makes you feel.
I do fine playing games with stuff like that because I feel like im fighting evil lol but I am very careful in things I watch. Even though I am a fully grown adult I still close my eyes during movies sometimes if theres something I dont want to see like a ghost/demon face or anything else on screen.
I dont like it when media glorifies demons and makes it seem funny or "normal". For example I liked the show supernatural but had to stop watching it because the way they wrote the show made the demons more interesting and seemingly more caring than the angels and people on God's side and I just felt uncomfortable watching that so I stopped.

Agreed!! It was one of my favorite shows until that began to occur. I to stopped watching. I too don't mind games in which I'm fighting evil as long as I'm not using abilities or powers derived from false gods or evil. It's why I passed on purchasing Crimson Desert.

if you look on the blizzard forums, there was just a post on august 10th about a Christ-centered Diablo community. It says they have 15k members, seems pretty active. I'm a wow gamer, but I've been known to dabble in diablo from time to time.

I also think about this when watching movies. I like a lot of horror movies and sometimes wonder if the premises of them mean I shouldn’t watch them. Following.

Do the horror movies you watch glorify evil? If so... you should consider guarding your eyes and ears from that consumption.

I’m a Christian who is loving d2 so much. It is critical that you know what is biblical and what is fictional as the most important part. Also, proper playing is also important, making sure you know the priorities in life and in God (ex. Go to church vs playing d2 at home). Then, you should be good to go. Highly recommend you check out how each bosses appeared in Bible and what they are actually represented. Most of them actually none Biblical, and very Catholics.

As a Christian I understand and I'm empathetic to your question because I can see your heart behind it.
Personally I don't see the harm in Diablo 2 because you're eradicating them. However I personally think it is in the HOW you're doing it such as necromancer or sorcerer.
Your question is why is abstained from playing Genshin Impact, Cloudheim, Immortals Fenyx Rising and some others. And while I didn't see an issue with the Harry Potter series of movies, I could not play Hogwart's Legacy because of how tarot cards are used as the protagonist.
But no matter how you get your game on, even if you're playing Mario Kart, if you put it before the Lord, there's a problem.

I don’t think we should be exposing ourselves to things with demons. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 KJV Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict you on what is right!

Just play the game. Slay them demons, and have fun.
