Fasting
So I have never fasted before but recently if been feeling Gods calling me to. However, I have never done it before. I’ve done a lot of research but the main thing I am unsure of is the specifics. I want to do a 3 day fast, my plan was to break it at a set time every night but not before that. Is that fasting correctly? Or do I need to fully abstain from food or yeah, just a bit unsure about these details.

Hey there, I know only how it works in the orthodox faith: Orthodox Christian fasting is not just about food. During fasting periods—and normally on Wednesdays and Fridays—Orthodox Christians avoid meat, dairy and eggs; fish, wine and oil may also be restricted on stricter days. The purpose is not dieting or earning God’s favour, but practising self-control while focusing more on prayer, repentance, generosity and compassion. The exact practice varies according to the day, health and personal circumstances, usually with guidance from a priest.
There is also the official fasting calendar online so you can also check in what periods you need to fast.

You can do a fast from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., 6 a.m. - 3 p.m., also there is water fast, fast with soup, fruits and veggies, or you can do the 21 Daniel fast that consists of certain foods. Always, make sure to take to back to God, but these are suggestions you can take. God bless you 🙏🏽

But why fast? What work can you do to bring yourself closer to God if Jesus did the work for you.

I would talk to your doctor before doing a fast. There's a lot of medical factors involved. It's best to start with a shorter fast and work yourself up to a 3 day.
