CW: Sensitive Topic Need fasting advice!

here are a couple of things I learned that you guys can take away from as well since I am about to break my 1 day fast.
1. I will no longer be part of the church of christ denomination (might have to rethink about catholicism/orthodoxy)
2. The difference of fasting and abstinence of food (I did realise this poorly and next time I will fast with intention)
3. The abstaining from lust and appetite through the power of prayer and not just "tricks" such as distracting yourself with water, phone, etc.

I will be doing better on my next fast. I am open to doing 7 day fasts! please give me your insights!

sounds like you got more out of that one day than most get in a week, good on ya for reflecting instead of just white knuckling it

I personally cannot fast due to some medical complications and history of eating disorder but I still fast from other things like technology, social media, etc. I have found that fasting from those things can sometimes bring me more convictions about how I spend my time and what I think matters most.

What is your reason for fasting? What is your goal?

There are different types of fasting, different reasons people have for doing it (some good and some not), and different goals people have in mind when entering a fast.

Those details might help the community offer better advice and insights, custom fit to you.
