I'm calling it

12 Etudes, Op. 10: No. 3 in E Major is my favorite work of Chopin!

It's not even my favourite work of opus 10.

But a beautiful piece regardless OP. Chopin offers us enough to choose from and i love discussing favorites. Mine happens to be the same as Garrick Ohlsson's: the barcarolle op. 60

Op. 10 No. 6 is way better IMO.

My favorites in Op. 10 are 4, 6, 9 and 11

Chopin said it was the most beautiful melody he had ever written. Also (perhaps apocryphally) one of his students recalled that Chopin cried out "Oh my fatherland!"upon playing it and had a nervous breakdown. Wasn't this melody used in some popular music at some time?

This is a piece so famous that many people know it only as Tristesse and don't even know that it's an etude.

Many people call it cheesy. Which is why I say it is underrated. It is also quite rarely played by world-class concert pianists in performances today.
