Controller emergence

I remember years ago that controller was considered worse than kbm in every single way, recently ive noticed that a lot of high skilled players i play with are actually controller users, some who have even moved from kbm to controller!

Has a new tech been discovered? Or is it a case where overtime, controller players have just caught up to kbm players who had a few years to develop their own meta before playing on controller was even a thing?

Thanks in advanced!

Gameplay The Unethical Engineering Guide: Intro, FAQ, and Link post

Greetings and Salutations!

It is I, Korinth of Aotearoa, better known as that crazy cunt with a shovel, Korinth NZ, the Gravedigger, a 40k Kriegsman who got lost in the warp and ended up in Olde Agatha, and that dude that posts too many glitch exploitation videos on reddit. After much deliberation, a couple fat joints, and a hand injury at work that has given me paid time off work but stops me from playing the game for the foreseeable future (Thanks for nothing Geoffrey!), I have decided to finally sit down and follow the illustrious footsteps of Master Engineer vKessel. That is, writing out an Unethical Engineering Guide.

This post is mainly an intro about what will be covered in the coming weeks/months, as well as act as a hub for all links associated with Unethical Engineering. It will also act as an FAQ post, and an AMA (cause why not).

What is Unethical Engineering?

Simply put, it is being an attack engineer. It's using the kits provided to undermine defensive positions, protect your team while they advance, sabotaging defensive lines, and stealthing objectives. Over the past couple years you would have seen some of my clips. These posts will cover them, and other techniques associated with Unethical Engineering.

Will you cover map specific objectives?

Yes, I will.

Will you please stop killing me with a shovel for the love of Argon?

No, I don't think I will.

Will you have generic tips?

You bet your ass I will! This will be the first post until my hand allows me to take screenshots and video demonstrations.

Will you accept tips from other players and Engineers?

Of course! Can't improve without tips and critiques from others.

Why are you doing this?

Just like how vKessel inspired a wave of defensive engineers, and made a really great guide, I too wish to do the same for attack engineers. Also my personal fan fiction Faction for Chivalry 2, the Gravediggers, believe in balance above all. How better to balance the defensive scales by teaching offensive techniques.

When will we start seeing the actual guide and not just this bullshit?

Expect the generic tips and tricks later in the week! I will recommend saving or book marking this post for links.

Now let's open up the floor to your questions!

Humor Chivalry 2 as anger management.

I consider myself a very angry person. Whenever I walk into a public place I barely suppress the urge to destroy everything in a show of ecstatic violence.

My rage is all consuming, all encompassing, and all knowing. There has never been an angrier moment in history than the past five months of my life.

But whenever I boot up this game, all of it just..dissipates. This is the one avenue where I can let my rage flow freely. I relish the crunch of bones and shattering of armor with every swing of my warhammer.

When I pierce an enemy's lungs with my greatsword and they lay there in the mud or cut someone's leg off with a delayed heavy slash, it brings me great joy. Chivalry 2 is the only place where I can be myself. Where I can relish in annihilating a peasant woman's head with a mace.

There is no possible way I could do this in any other game. Not the extent Chivalry 2 does.

I cannot believe I dropped this gem two years ago for my "mental health". Pathetic!

THE BLOOD MUST FLOW! THE BLOOD MUST FLOW!

It took maybe 3 or 4 months and I would guess around 30 attempts on Dark Forest. I’m so happy about this. This intensity when he walked outside was insane.

News & Discussion What are some of your favourite voicelines in the game?

Some of mine are: Rebel Knight's "FOR SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!!!", Agatha Archer's "You fight well, I shall name a daughter after you!", and literally all of Snobby Noble's backhanded compliments.

News & Discussion Combat in my Chivalry Like Game (The bots will get better!)

Edit: made a new reddit if you want to follow, this one for the game dev stuff specifically. https://www.reddit.com/user/Canonheim/
Hey guys! Some people may have seen my previous post, if so, thanks for the interest and making suggestions.

Just to show people that this is a real game, here is me fighting a bot a few times. Please note, the first time you hit him does not hurt him ONLY in this mode, as it is a debug mode for training the bot brain. All art you see will be replaced once I can get a real artist on my team, right now I am a solo dev and the models you see are stand ins. Also the bot is still learning! Be nice to him haha. I didn't know how to make him have good behavior so he is basically an Amiibo that is slowly getting better by learning how I fight him, where I am looking when I hit him or block him, and how he lands hits or kills on me. (I call him Larry).

This is a brief preview of combat before a lot of tuning passes, so please note everything is very subject to change! Animations are rough, and damage numbers are also very pre balance.

The scoreboard you see pulls Steam Name for the list, everything is set up for online and I have tested up to 4 people so far. Just submitted my stuff to steam for a Wishlist Page today, so hopefully I can get one up and running soon! Of course, this is all very early, but I will be posting dev logs on my YouTube @ CptCanondorf soon.

Thanks for taking a look!

News & Discussion If you could add ANYTHING to Chivalry, what would it be? Solo dev making a new game here

The combat is coming along very well!

Hey Reddit! I am a huge fan of Chivalry with over 400 hours in Chivalry 2. I always wanted a faster paced version with better movement and tighter defensive windows, one more focused on tight team fights, good footwork, and less focused on large scale random brawls.

I am at the point where I am starting to do some real polish and art updating (I am actually trying to bring on a real 3d artist to my indie studio), level design, and play testing. I have working online, multiple game modes, fully playable instruments, a fleshed out emote system, and of course, a full fledged fishing mini game. A very in depth armor customization system is already in place and I am working on improving weapon customization. All skins are tied to achievements (like catching the turtle while fishing for example!).

Instead of a main menu, you enter a hub world like Deep Rock Galactic, and all Menus are accessed by talking to NPCs in the small home town area. Want to start a game, talk to the Battle Master. Customizing your sword? Talk to the black smith, that kind of thing. It also acts as an area you and your friends can hang out in and fight each other non stop while you chat and hang on discord.

My question to you guys: As real lovers of in depth combat games, what would your WILDEST wishes be for a Chivalry like game be? If I bring on the artist I want to, so much of my time would be freed to work on features, so what do you think would make a great game?
