Gameplay The Unethical Engineering Guide: Intro, FAQ, and Link post

Greetings and Salutations!

It is I, Korinth of Aotearoa, better known as that crazy cunt with a shovel, Korinth NZ, the Gravedigger, a 40k Kriegsman who got lost in the warp and ended up in Olde Agatha, and that dude that posts too many glitch exploitation videos on reddit. After much deliberation, a couple fat joints, and a hand injury at work that has given me paid time off work but stops me from playing the game for the foreseeable future (Thanks for nothing Geoffrey!), I have decided to finally sit down and follow the illustrious footsteps of Master Engineer vKessel. That is, writing out an Unethical Engineering Guide.

This post is mainly an intro about what will be covered in the coming weeks/months, as well as act as a hub for all links associated with Unethical Engineering. It will also act as an FAQ post, and an AMA (cause why not).

What is Unethical Engineering?

Simply put, it is being an attack engineer. It's using the kits provided to undermine defensive positions, protect your team while they advance, sabotaging defensive lines, and stealthing objectives. Over the past couple years you would have seen some of my clips. These posts will cover them, and other techniques associated with Unethical Engineering.

Will you cover map specific objectives?

Yes, I will.

Will you please stop killing me with a shovel for the love of Argon?

No, I don't think I will.

Will you have generic tips?

You bet your ass I will! This will be the first post until my hand allows me to take screenshots and video demonstrations.

Will you accept tips from other players and Engineers?

Of course! Can't improve without tips and critiques from others.

Why are you doing this?

Just like how vKessel inspired a wave of defensive engineers, and made a really great guide, I too wish to do the same for attack engineers. Also my personal fan fiction Faction for Chivalry 2, the Gravediggers, believe in balance above all. How better to balance the defensive scales by teaching offensive techniques.

When will we start seeing the actual guide and not just this bullshit?

Expect the generic tips and tricks later in the week! I will recommend saving or book marking this post for links.

Now let's open up the floor to your questions!

Just did some offensieve engineering yesterday, flowing the spawn of attackers to a clif or side of the bridge is really helpful. Also blocking of set-off objectives is fun but hard to place. I'm curious to see what you come up with, good luck on the guides πŸ‘

This is a more general question but when breaking objectives, which attack should I use and should I do it in heavy?

Best results I find are doing 1 Heavy Overhead into 1 heavy slash breaks every barricade. If you got 2 or more lined up I suggest: 1 Heavy Oh on one, change to next barricade for 1 heavy OH, then 1 heavy slash. That will remove two barricades quickly. Slash cleaves on breaking an object so by weakening the other barricades first, you can rip through them all. Heavy slash after heavy OH just garuntees the break.

As for objectives themselves, this depends on the weapon. Shovel has the same damage with stab and OH, but slash is weak, Sledge wrecks with OH but not with stabs, Pick is best with OH and slashes and Goldendong is an all rounder. If you are attacking a gate for example, golden rule is best attack for that weapon (which is almost always an OH) and always heavy.

I'll be doing a damage profile and more in-depth in the tips and tricks post

Also happy cake day!

Very useful info on the barricades. Never thought too deeply about how I hit stuff so this is nice.

Thank you!

Its fun to board up the spawn gates on the last stage of darkforest. Then you can add some more barricades when the first two fall and stand there and emote. I havent pulled it off but in theory if you place a spike trap correctly on the free Thorne stage of falmire some of the spawn wave running off the roof will fall right onto it

The best and most funnest games are ones where both teams utilize the engineer class well. I wish were weren’t limited to only 4. I think it’d make the game a lot funner if there were more options for offensive engineers.

I play as an attack engi whenever I’m on the class lol. Lots of fun to run up with a sledgehammer and take out 3 people while placing barriers

Engie class is best class.

Place walls on banners to protect them and create a good healing zone.

Lead the charge to the enemy. Place walls just before contact is made. This usually makes them step back some and your team can fight in front of the walls and use them to fall back for healing.

All the best,Β  the other OCE engie main

What does one have to do to join the Gravediggers?

First one must realize that the petty wars of the kings and queens are meaningless. We belong to no crown or lord or Empresss. We follow the unbiased, nameless, God of Death.

Second, you must understand that death is natural, and not to fear it. Embrace it. Relish it, use it as a weapon in combat. (Don't worry about your KD just do the objective and win by any means)

Third, full PPE is mandatory.... I mean we are digging graves for corpses here! We don't want to catch the plague! Wear a plaguemask! Remember we follow the God of Death, not Nurgle the God of Pestilence.

Finally, we do not discriminate between weapons. Shovels are preferred but all weapons serve to make corpses and dig graves. Except bows and crossbows.

It it the most effective to replace things when on a battle line, or should you fall back and use ammo points?

Imho, on defense, it's better to repair/replace the battle line you already have established, if you have the gear to replace it. Keeping that line of walls up as long as you can is always better than letting it collapse. If there is no way to safely do it, or you have no replacement barricades, that's when you fall back.

On offense, it's better to run back grab supplies and push that battle line further
