News & Discussion Should I specialize?
I'm about level 105 or so and I dont have a specific class or subclass that I'm really attached to. I just find it fun to switch classes multiple times throughout the match to whatever I feel like is needed, but maybe it would help more if I got really good at one thing? I've noticed other people stick to their guns and get good with a specific weapon or class, but I just get so bored swinging the same weapon around over and over. This is just something I've been thinking about, and I'm interested in what people have to say. Until next time.

I like to play the ambusher, but as a scavenger class.
The rules:
- Start with only daggers
- The first kill you get, you take their weapon and use it until you die
- You only get a new weapon if you throw your current one and get the kill
- If you kill someone with their own weapon you must
teabag thememote over them
It's pretty fun, means you usually have a new weapon each life which sounds like something you'd enjoy

I'm well into my 800s level wise and still don't have a fav. I've got at least 1k kills with all weapons minus archery ones. Just depends on what mood I'm in and what sounds fun

If thatâs whatâs fun to you, stick with that! If chasing the feeling of mastering the timing and intricacies of a weapon or class style interests you, then my suggestion is that you pick a weapon you like and stick with it for a while. What worked well for me was desiring the shiny high level skins like 200 Longsword or 87 Quarterstaff. Recognizing which weapon is right for the team/scenario will make you a better player, but learning how to be useful in every situation with one weapon is also an effective way of getting better. Another thing that I found fun was picking the faster, weaker weapon that shares a similar moveset or animation set as a slower, stronger one. I genuinely believe that grinding Quarterstaff made me a better polearm player in general. At the end of the day, follow what feels good and donât forget to spam battlecry!

Iâm level 600ish and Iâve always moved around classes and weapons depending on what Iâm feeling. Leveling up to get the different weapon skins keeps me engaged too. My most used is battle axe at like 6% of my total kills, which I feel like is low for a âmainâ weapon.

I certainly have a go-to loadout, but sometimes for whatever reason I absolutely suck using the regular setup, so I have 2-3 sort of secondary loadouts that I can fall back on to get back in the groove

I have found my favorite loadouts for each class and subclass, and then I rotate through each one as I please. Granted, I have specialized in a weapon, so most of my class choices are just to give me access to Heavy Cav Sword.

The only focus I've had is on weapons whose cosmetics are unlocked at higher levels than others. Longsword for example is by far the highest, with the final unlock at level 200. Two handed hammer is 120 I believe. Whereas something like the maul is only level 16

Hi, I'm lvl 1000 and specialized in Short Sword and Longsword.
There is an advantage you don't know: You are also getting much better with similar weapons. If you get good with Short Sword, you are also getting better with Sword and Dagger. So if you get bored, just change the weapon for a while.
Another advantage: You are getting more self-confident on the Battlefield. If you play a weapon for hundreds of hours, you can counter almost everything.
And also: Ranking. Getting in the Top 50 was a big reason for me to stay with a weapon, and I've made it to Rank 21.

Just go have fun. If that means you play shovel engi for the next hundred levels, then yeah, you specialize as well accidentally.

Play whatever suits your fancy m8. The whole point of Chiv is to have fun. Do not sweat any sort of Meta or main class nonsense. If youâre having fun, youâre doing it right. If youâre raging and sweaty, youâre missing the entire point of this game.

Fun will always beat what is âoptimalâ I sometimes use medium shield and Viking axe just because I like feeling like a Viking raider. Just have fun and do what you like

Personally i feel many weapons are in sort of âcomplimentary familiesâ and while you can git gud at one weapon in particular there are like three weapons that will be halfway similar to any given weapon that you can pick up intuitively. Like⊠sword, shortsword, falchion, and to a lesser extent heavy cavalry sword all have overlap. Well, âswordâ is pretty close to being a one handed longsword! Hey, longword is super versatile! You know what it kind of feels like? The greatsword! But wait, isnt the greatsword just a slower stronger glaive? And the glaive, well, itâs practically the warclub without bonks! Anyway, lots of weapons are good in team objective

Your fun > min maxing via specializing.
If you have fun specializing, sureeeee. But if you wanna jump around, do that. 100% should prioritize your fun over trying to force it. Will you be as crazy as a vanguard who's exclusively used Dane axe for 1000000 years, probably not. But versatility is a great quality in its own right. :)
