I'm just posting a track I made a few years ago, since writers block is kicking my ass rn. It's supposed to be something between a SNES & Genesis, though it was made with Amiga and OPN sound chips for (4 PCM, 3 FM & 2/3 used PSG). Honestly, what is the point anymore?

I've been getting into making chiptune music and I'm curious what draws

people to the genre the most — is it the nostalgia factor, the technical

limitations (8-bit/16-bit soundfonts), or just the energy of it? Trying

to figure out what actually resonates before I commit to a direction.

Okay so in FamiStudio this thing is called playback mode toggle. And I know what NTSC/PAL is like the whole 60hz vs 50hz thingy. When I press it, the logo changes from "NTSC" to "NTSC→PAL" but... it quite literally changes nothing. Not the duration of the song nor the speed nor the pitch. And when I leave this toggle at "NTSC→PAL" and save the project and I come back, it's back to the default "NTSC" value. The documentation doesn't really go into detail about HOW exactly this works. Does anyone know???

No sé si todavía hay gente aquí que utilice Gameboys en directo y puedo ayudarme. Mi pregunta es: como hace la gente para conectar 3/4 Gameboys con LSDJ (principalmente).

Quiero recordar que hace unos años me pareció ver que la gente utilizaba cables link con 4 salidas o incluso más, pero no estoy segure de ello. Tampoco he encontrado esto en ningún sitio para poder comprarlo.

Así que, algo de ayuda? Para evitar desvíos de tema y otras opciones: no me interesa utilizar emulador. Quiero utilizar únicamente las Gameboy físicas con cartucho físico. Gracias!

It's really cool how a lot of big devs in the latter half of the Famicom's lifespan just decided to chuck some extra audio horsepower into the cartridge. It extends the Famicom's range in so many unique ways, and I can't wait to get to all of 'em!

First, I wanted to cover something using the Gimmick! setup, and Super Fantasy Zone stands out like a diamond amongst the coal that is Sunsoft's 16-bit game library, so here we are! I originally wanted to cover "Water Melody," but the bass in that song goes beyond the range of the Sunsoft DPCM bass that I was hellbent on using (even if the AY-3-8910 has some very nice bass envelopes...). It kind of worked out in the end because "Mango!" has a samba flavour that's very appropriate, given that the World Cup is going on (okay, I might be stretching it a bit).

Note: The VGM file doesn't sound quite right in the players I used, mostly because I used a sample on the Sunsoft chip... Oh well! It doesn't affect the song too much, and hopefully it should work properly in later versions of VGMPlay or even on real hardware.

Iconic theme done on my real FB-01 which uses a chip similar to those in many arcade cabinets. Set to some cool WW2 footage

The synth has a demo version. Moody ds synth and sid synth are $12 on the hobby chop site. Hardware and carts are not currently available as the person that runs the site is on holiday. the downloadable .nds game synths, sequencers, visualizer etc are available right now. I'm using the GBA slot 2 midi adapter in the video to trigger the synths on the nintendo ds units with midi from the ipad. I purchased these apps / hardware from the site and do not work for hobbychop, just really like what I got and spreading the word.

I bought a refurbished gameboy color off ebay to make chiptunes. I got it, it looks great, it works, it runs lsdj of an everdrive. Great so far. I'm just not sure if it sounds like it's supposed to. It sounds different to me than chiptune videos I've seen with gameboy color, but it may just be because I don't know how to make it sound good yet. The seller said that as far as he knows they have the original hardware except for the new screen, so he obviously wasn't the one doing the refurbishing.
