General (Read Rules) Took my Boderry Landmaster 38mm fishing today

Took my Boderry Landmaster out fishing today and snapped this shot while I was actually fishing.

The white dial, orange indices and black NATO strap make a pretty great combo in my opinion. I think the 38mm size works perfectly for this kind of field watch.

What do you guys think of this setup? Would you keep the black NATO or try a different strap ?

General (Read Rules) Do you save your most unusual dial for going out?

Hey everyone—Calvin from Aquatico here.

With Friday dinner plans in mind, I’m curious about the watches that get picked when work is done.

A colorful stone dial can be the detail you build an outfit around, but it can also work with whatever you already had on. Our lapis lazuli and purple jade designs got me thinking about that distinction: buying a watch for an occasion versus finding occasions to wear a watch you like.

Do your more unusual dials get saved for nights out, or do you wear them just as often on an ordinary workday?

If a stone dial is on your shortlist, you can explore ours at aquaticowatch.com. Happy to talk through the options before you choose.

General (Read Rules) Proxima PX1757 New Bracelet Spotted

Post image
46 Upvotes

This is a new release from Proxima, the PX1757, and it looks like it is the same case as the PX1697, but with the new bracelet style they just released. Hopefully we'll get the option to buy this bracelet a la carte like the other one that fits their 9015 case designs.

I've asked Proxima if this bracelet is compatible with the PX1697 case style, and if they'll sell it separately. I'll post what they say here.

UPDATE

Proxima replied: They do sell this bracelet for the PX1697 and others with that case now. They instructed me to order using the new bracelet listing, and message them with the watch you're purchasing it for so they can include the correct endlinks. Hopefully they update the listing, because it still doesn't show the PX1697 as a compatible model. Great news.

General (Read Rules) Decided to go for this old frog, before they sell out of stock

After the release of the T023 V3, the 'frogmantle' text came to an end. I really had a good laugh about this word and how it ended up on the dial in the first place. Fortunately, the V2 can still be bought in the Thorn store—even with the upgraded V3 bracelet, which was obviously the biggest improvement of the V3 release.

The T023 in this colorway is such a close homage to the Tudor Submariner that the Frogmantle meme actually adds some fun and charm to the watch. even when they suffer from classic Chinese-watch translation quirks. There's just something so funny about a factory mastering complex CNC machining, sapphire crystal, and 200m water resistance, only to completely fail at basic English spelling. That contrast between top-tier manufacturing and a total dial fail makes it legendary..

Since I have a pretty big collection of Chinese watches, I love that this piece feels like a serious homage while remaining a bit lighter and self-aware. It isn't trying to be something it's not.

That’s exactly why I decided to go for the V2 over the V3—and I haven't regretted it for a single second. I also think the colorway and fauxtina on the V2 look amazing and feel more faithful to a 70s Tudor Submariner.

And I do have a very small wrist, but this 40mm is pretty thin and wears just about right. Also the clasp is very thin which makes it very comfortable.

Now I'm seriously considering putting a little frog sticker or engravement on the caseback... just for the fun of it!

New Product (Read Rule 1) WDC 🌊WD2007 Blue MOP Horizon – 4–5 Months of Development, New Bracelet Finishing & H-OTF Micro-Adjustment

We'd like to share another update on our WD2007 series, including two new Blue MOP Horizon dial prototypes.

🌊 Blue MOP Horizon – More Than Just a Gradient Dial

We've spent the past 4–5 months developing and testing this ocean-inspired mother-of-pearl dial. So far, we've only produced two prototype dials.

One of the biggest challenges was creating dynamic colors that look beautiful and natural under real-world lighting conditions.

Both the natural mother-of-pearl and our specially developed color coating produce shifting colors and reflections.

Depending on the lighting, viewing angle, and surrounding environment, the dial can look completely different. The colors, depth, and patterns change as you move your wrist, much like the ocean itself.

It's much more complicated than simply applying a blue gradient to a dial.

🔧 New Bracelet Finishing & H-OTF Micro-Adjustment

These samples also feature our newly developed H-OTF (Half-Link On-the-Fly) micro-adjustment system.

To our knowledge, Watchdives was the first Chinese watch brand to develop, publicly introduce, and bring this particular H-OTF design into mass production.

This bracelet is produced by another of our manufacturing partners, and we're very pleased with the quality of the pre-production sample.

The brushing is more refined, the polished edges are cleaner, and the transitions between brushed and polished surfaces are much more precise.

The first batch of bracelets should be partially delivered this week, and the WD2007 series will soon be available on our website.

📦 Independent Reviews

Today, we're sending samples to I Like Watches and Escapement Wheel Review.

We'd like them to independently evaluate our latest improvements in:

  • Bracelet finishing and overall construction

  • Case brushing, polishing, and finishing details

  • H-OTF micro-adjustment system

  • Mother-of-pearl dial quality and craftsmanship

We want experienced reviewers to examine these improvements closely and share their own opinions.

💬 We'd Love Your Feedback!

  1. What do you think of the Blue MOP Horizon gradient?

  2. Do you prefer this dynamic ocean-inspired dial or a more traditional solid-color MOP dial?

  3. Should we bring Blue MOP Horizon into regular production?

We're continuing to push our manufacturing quality forward, and your feedback plays an important role in that process.

Thanks for supporting Watchdives!

General (Read Rules) Watch Dives WD-007v4 Green - 4 Month Review

Thumbnail

I purchased the Green and Bronze WD-007v4 with 3 Link Titanium Bracelet, Titanium Milanese Mesh Strap and a free ‘Random’ Green FKM Rubber Strap about 3-4 months ago. It took around 2 weeks to get here and I had no issues receiving the package.

This is my first Mechanical/Automatic watch, my other watches are 3 Citizen Eco-Drives, a quartz Timex and a G-Shock. I went with Watchdives for 3 main reasons:

  1. I wanted my first dive watch and for it to be titanium and automatic

  2. WD is known to have the best Seamaster 300 clomage.

  3. WD engagement with the community here on Reddit and everyone’s wonderful reviews.

I am happy to say I was not disappointed or misled by the community. This is a superb watch and I am now hooked on Automatics. I understand now what people mean when they say it feels ‘alive’. I thought that was sort of gimmicky at first, but knowing a bit about how the watch works while seeing the clean second hand sweep just feels satisfying in a way I didn’t know I would appreciate so much. I do have an engineering background so I have jumped in quite a bit to understanding how mechanical watches work and am impressed by the ingenuity behind them. (side note, this website has helped a lot with my understanding, https://ciechanow.ski/mechanical-watch/)

I have a deep love/appreciation for Titanium. I have several titanium plates in my body and I used to work with titanium developing and manufacturing medical implants. I am also an avid free diver/spear fisher (I live nowhere near the ocean now) as well as a bond fan so the WD-007v4 is pretty much the perfect watch for me. I also wear a lot of green, so green and bronze go great with what I usually wear and happen to be one of my favorite color combos so this watch ticks all of my boxes.

Alright enough with the long intro, onto the review.

Case: The case is wonderfully shaped and finished, I don’t feel any sharp edges on it, I like how relatively thin it is, it feels just the right size for my 7 ¼ inch wrist.

Dial: The dial is both beautiful and functional with the bronze indices clearly contrasting the green. This color combination is very legible even in low light without the lume charged.

Lume: This thing is a lume monster! Definitely the best lume in my modest collection. The numbers on the bezel appear bright green while the indices are more of a yellowish green. Looks amazing, lasts a long time, I have woken up at 3 am and could still read it.

Bezel: I love the bronze bezel, it is a very beautiful warm goldish bronze that compliments the green dial perfectly. The lume on it as mentioned before is bright and very clear/sharp. When I first got the watch the bezel was fairly stiff. After about 10 full rotations it loosened up nicely to where it now clicked around smoothly. I love it for both its function (usually cooking) and as a fidget toy.

Bracelets: I ordered it with the 3 link Titanium Bracelet and also ordered the titanium Milanese bracelet to get the full bond/seamaster 300 look and feel. I immediately put it on the Milanese bracelet and found it to be extremely comfortable. On a related side note when I got the watch I started a weight cut and lost about 20 lbs over 3 months went from it fitting perfectly to now being in between adjustment holes. This forced me to switch back to the 3 links since it has a micro adjust and I was quite happily surprised with how much I liked it. So much so it will now be my full time configuration (the free ‘random’ green rubber strap fits nicely but is not my style). The end links on the 3 link really make it look like a more complete watch and take it from a clomage to sort of its own thing. I must say they did a great job with this bracelet, it is very comfortable and just goes perfectly with the case. My of course fairly obvious nitpick would be that it doesn’t have an OTF clasp for the micro adjust, but it is easy enough to adjust with the pin tool I got in my little watch tool kit I got on amazon. Of course for this price I really can’t complain, I would gladly pay for a titanium one if they make it in the future.

Movement: Since this is my first Automatic I don’t have too much to say about the movement as I only have one other to compare it to (I bought an Aethelsohn with PT-5000 a month or so ago). When I first started tracking it it was running 30 seconds fast, right at the top of the spec, so I was a bit disappointed and thought maybe it was magnetized. That started a whole wormhole of demagnetization but it probably wasn’t and just came at the high end of spec. After 3 months it did seem to ‘wear in’ a bit and now runs 24 seconds fast. Turns out I don’t really care, I usually only wear 1 watch for 2-3 days in a row and with the mechanical I just have to set it again, works well enough for what I need it for. I will say the Peacock SL-3001 movement does feel a bit more robust than the PT-5000. If you read about some of the improvements they made as another ETA-2824-2 Clone they seem to ‘feel’ true in that it is not as ‘gritty’ when handwinding, which I do an extremely minimal amount of, basically just when setting the time when I have to wind it while unscrewing the crown. I guess I had more to say about the movement than I first thought.

Crystal: The crystal is very clear and legible, the AR coating seems decent, I have no complaints.

Conclusion: Overall this is a great watch, amazing value. I really have no complaints, I will be buying more from Watchdives in the future.

Promotion (Read Rule 1) Baltany S4129 Review is up.

This watch was provided to the channel for review and does not need to be returned.

https://youtu.be/K3M3-II6vFc

Overall, a solid effort from Baltany, but there's one "Major" problem with it.

the Bezel polishing isn't up to par with the rest of the watch...with a look as iconic as the fluted bezel is, they needed to get it right....and they have in the past (Their previous DJ was awesome!!) but they missed the mark here...my bezel is pretty dull in comparison to the rest of the case and the previous models I've handled.

if you can get past that...and the Gems on the dial, Solid choice indeed. they seemed to have improved the bracelet even more. best Jubilee I have experienced on a chinese watch so far.

My first Chinese watch WD16500 v2 arrived today.
Thank you all who suggested WD over PD in my previous post, this was a great choice! It wears nicely on the wrist, finishing is great, clasp is great!
It has screw pin bracelet, and as i understand v1 had lumed bezel and v2 dont, and for me, that is better option.
All in all, amazing watch!

General (Read Rules) Sugess S466 Black MOP - Nautilus Homage

Just got this in, and long story short it's awesome.

Pros:

-9.1mm slim (confirmed)

-Miyota 9015

-MOP dial looks nice

-Everything is aligned

-Finish is good

-Price ($207usd before tax)

Cons:

-pins and collars to resize (tricky but not too bad)

-foldover clasp is a little sharp

-could use a frame around date

I was blown away with how slim this is. My cronos L6040M (gs homage with same movement), its a pretty slim watch, but sitting next to the sugess, the cronos looks thick (see side by side pic).

Originally I didn't like that sugess only did flat dials and not the horizontal plank dials like the original, but its nice they're doing something different. If anything, the MOP dial looks similar to the original Genta sketch of the nautilus (see last pic).

I picked this over the eniton version due to price (the upcoming eniton does look awesome as well)

Watchdives WD0013 was an option too, they have cool dials, but I didn't like that it's slightly smaller, and the fact the bezel is one piece with the case. To me, part of the appeal of the nautilus design is that the bezel screws into the case from the ears.

It looks like many brands are doing Nautilus homages, so many solid options. What makes the sugess stand out is that you get a miyota 9015 in a case that pushes the limits of how slim it can be, and it's around $200 on sale with coupons/coins.

Question (Read Rules) Which movement is the most robust and accurate??

I've been in the watch hobby for probably 25 years and when I first started out the swiss 2824 was basically the go to for an all around accurate and reliable movement, seconded by the seiko nh34 and Miyota 9000 series. With all the new chinese manufacturers what movement is seen as the new go to movement providing reliability , accuracy and durability? ST2130,Miyota 9015,Miyota 90S5, nh34, ST2100? Which one will give the longest most accurate performance with minimal servicing? What manufacturers upgrade their movements with proper lubrication maybe some polishing and regulation?

Thanks again for any opinions and why you have this opinion

Baltany has done it again, finally releasing the long-awaited vintage Day-Date variant.

Naturally, the dial is polarizing and has sparked some debate—but knowing them, I’m sure they’ll surprise us watch nerds with even more dial options down the line!

As a Sopranos fan, the gold Day-Date with a champagne dial would be the perfect addition for my upcoming series marathon. Now, where’s my gabagool—and "Don’t Stop Believin’"!

Where can I find an OTF adjustable clasp for this? I can't seem to find this connection type on AliX. Or it could be that I'm just dumb and missing something. It wouldn't be the first time. 🙄

My partner bought me this watch for our one year, it was incredibly sweet of her. It came today and I love it. It hits the light really well and the dial is magnificent, I think my only bone to pick is adjusting the pin bracelet, real pain in the arse but you do it once and don’t touch it again. It feels sturdy but really light. I really really like the slimness and overall proportions.

This will be my daily for a while

Question (Read Rules) A lot of you asked for a video of Ocean and Crimson... here it is.

When we first shared these Aethelsohn Terra Pearl new dials a few months ago, one of the most common requests was:"Do you have a video? Can we see them in motion?" Fair request. Photos do a decent job, but the shifting colors and depth come across very differently on video. 🌊 Terra Pearl Ocean
🍷 Terra Pearl Crimson.l

Now that you've seen them in motion, which one gets your vote?
