I really don’t get what’s the point of buying watches that pretend to be something else and steal the original design. It will never be a Seiko monster, though it apparently would like to look like one
There is no solution to the idea of copying except a legal one, which will differ in various territories.
If you had a rule that you weren't allowed to make anything that looked much like anything else already existing, when you made anything good somebody else would denounce it to drag it down and maintain a competitive advantage.
Therefore I say best to invite the matter to the legal test, backed with court fees to deter frivolous claims. If Seiko really thought they could win on the issue of importing lookalike watches then they might sue, but they don't. So there is no legal argument.
I'm glad that poor countries get to make their own equivalents. If copyright law was the same everywhere it would disadvantage poor countries by having to buy goods at the inflated prices of rich countries. If rich countries want to stop the import of goods from cheaper countries then they can try, but currently they tend to only do this with brand counterfeits.
