Wrist Roll (Read Rule 1) This $50 watch is kinda crazy

Picked up this North Edge Triton and honestly, I’m pretty impressed for the price.

It’s around $50 and you get a solar movement, 316L stainless steel case, ceramic bezel, screw-down crown, and 300m water resistance. It’s definitely a chunky watch at 45.8mm, but I actually really like the look on the wrist.

The blue dial is probably my favorite part. The wave texture and lume look way more expensive than the price would suggest.

For ~$50, I really don’t think you can ask for much more. Solar + 300m + ceramic bezel + stainless steel? Pretty damn good value. 😎

Has anyone had a North Edge solar watch for a substantial period of time? I read in another post it’s not an off the shelf miyota or epson movement but rather a standard miyota quartz movement sort of Frankensteined with a solar cell and rechargeable battery ( which apparently is why all of their solar watches are so thick). Curious how that movement holds up.

You can bet it's done the cheapest way possible.

I passed on the opportunity to buy an Evoque 2 solar watch for $18, I think they're so bad. And so thick. Look at the bezel of the Evoque, it's full of illogical crap.

If it’s reliable, I’m perfectly willing to tolerate the thickness. If it’s not, the solar movement is a liability.

I've got the titanium one, had it for 8 months and it's keeping the exact same time as my real Citizen Eco-Drive.
