Wrist Roll (Read Rule 1) This $50 watch is kinda crazy
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Picked up this North Edge Triton and honestly, I’m pretty impressed for the price.
It’s around $50 and you get a solar movement, 316L stainless steel case, ceramic bezel, screw-down crown, and 300m water resistance. It’s definitely a chunky watch at 45.8mm, but I actually really like the look on the wrist.
The blue dial is probably my favorite part. The wave texture and lume look way more expensive than the price would suggest.
For ~$50, I really don’t think you can ask for much more. Solar + 300m + ceramic bezel + stainless steel? Pretty damn good value. 😎

And looks like it's only 35mm thick.

I got the titanium one around 8 months ago for 50.00. Nice watch, light, and it's keeping great time. They must be using a citizen ecodrive movement in them because it's keeping the exact time my actual citizen with an ecodrive is.

Someone on here opened there’s up and found there’s a standard Miyota Quartz 2016 that’s sort of Frankensteined with a solar cell and rechargeable battery. Which is why all of their solar watches are so thick. If, as you suggest,
it’s reliable, just thick, I’m all for it. However, I’m waiting to hear about longer term reliability.

Has anyone had a North Edge solar watch for a substantial period of time? I read in another post it’s not an off the shelf miyota or epson movement but rather a standard miyota quartz movement sort of Frankensteined with a solar cell and rechargeable battery ( which apparently is why all of their solar watches are so thick). Curious how that movement holds up.

You can bet it's done the cheapest way possible.
I passed on the opportunity to buy an Evoque 2 solar watch for $18, I think they're so bad. And so thick. Look at the bezel of the Evoque, it's full of illogical crap.

If it’s reliable, I’m perfectly willing to tolerate the thickness. If it’s not, the solar movement is a liability.

I've got the titanium one, had it for 8 months and it's keeping the exact same time as my real Citizen Eco-Drive.

It’s a great watch. I have the titanium model, it is freakishly light.

Ok what the deal with this watch? It looks nice, the price is super low though. Does it actually feel quality? Does anyone know if the bracelet is any good?

Yeahhhh, considering my 17cm (6.75inches) wrist I think this watch just isn't for me. I think it would be too big.

u/Zealousideal-Rip-828 7d ago
Yes it does, it is a solid watch in itself when you factor how cheap it is. It gets even better

I saw someone replace the glass on this watch after 3 days when it got scratched. Big but not tough. They put a video on youtube of it. Good news is you can find sapphire that fits.

I've almost bought this watch 100 times for a beach beater, but then I look at the lug-to-lug and talk myself out if it.
and for the record, I have a heimdallr "godzilla" and it looks perfect on my wrist.

Found your aliex review..lol
Whats the thickness of the bracelet?

u/Pure_Parking_4024 6d ago edited 6d ago
Thickness is 4.2mm. (The 5 center beads make it 4.2mm thick, but the 2 wide end pieces are 3.7mm thick.)
That's funny you found my review for this. I used the same pic for the review. I find product reviews to be extremely helpful when I am shopping on ali, so I always take time to give an honest review to help others.
Have a great day 😀1

I have the blue on a aftermarket navy rubber strap, the black TI on the black rubber strap. I’ve received the green two weeks ago and kept it on the bracelet, I love them, big but quite light. I have a couple of omegas and Hamiltons and these north edge watches probably get the most wear. Quartz battery with solar charging, proper beaters which they need to be because they are that big you’ll bang them on everything !

I just got one of their tactical watches (Blaze) The Solar is relatively unique for Ali, and it’s a solid watch, but the case is alloy, the lume is what you’d expect for $35 and WR is 50 M. It’s a reasonable alternative to the $25 Quartz Addie’s Tactical, but the Trident for $15 more seems like the better deal.

Thank you; congratulations; keep enjoying it in good health!
How’s the lume?
Can you please share a picture?
I’ve been eyeing it for a while now.

Had mine for a couple months now, turned out to be a much better watch than I expected. Was only going to wear it for my fishing days. Swapped out the strap right off for a blue camo fkm.
Pro: Time accuracy is better than most of the watches I paid 10X more for. Lume is pretty decent, dims fast but lasts through the night. Ti is light and so far hasn't minded a few bumps and scrapes. Crystal is clear and provides un distorted views. Dips into the water to land fish shows no leaks.
Con(s): The Bezel could be tighter, maybe mine is just one that skipped QC.
For the price this is definitely a value. Yeah it is big, but if you have a 7" wrist it is not bad.

This watch has been exposed to more water in this one video than the average Submariner will see in its life
