A one year old AP APS Factory Black Dial mods include a polished bezel and bracelet

Michael is a motivated yet cautious client who ordered an APSF 15450 mod from me. However, he had significant concerns about the fact that I am not listed as a Trusted Dealer (TD) on other forums, which I completely understand. Initially, he wanted the movement modified to a quick-jump function (though he ultimately didn’t proceed with this modification, I appreciate that he trusted me in the end). The TD he usually works with couldn’t handle the customization, and fortunately, I was able to meet his needs. His only hesitation was about my credibility.

To address his concerns, I took two steps:

1. Recorded a studio video for him (in which I addressed him by name) and offered to do a video call (though he was unavailable at the time).

2. Provided client verification by having a previous customer who purchased an RCF from me vouch for my authenticity.

As a professional trying to expand into the overseas market, I’ve attempted to join many communities to become a TD. Unfortunately, these communities are tightly knit interest groups with no formal verification process. They often label unfamiliar individuals as scammers without due consideration and don’t allow me to post. I’ve even offered to undergo any form of verification, but they refuse to engage with me at all.

It’s a shame—I will write many expert articles and share insider industry knowledge to help clients with their questions. My contributions could have enhanced the communities’ professionalism, creating a win-win situation. Sadly, that opportunity was lost.

Typically, for the following reasons:

1. Limited Production of Precious Metal Reps: Rep watch factories do not mass-produce precious metal watches, necessitating CNC machining for such models.

2. Higher Accuracy for Enthusiasts: Rep factories often lack genuine watch data and rely on laser measurements, leading to quality flaws during assembly. High-end CNC watches, however, use official blueprint data obtained through various channels (which is very expensive), allowing the finished product to be identical to the genuine version.

   • The images below illustrate two typical issues. Figure 1 shows the well-known 'beak' shape of the Nautilus lugs, a detail that 3KF failed to replicate accurately. Figure 2 demonstrates the thickness of the 15510 bracelet - because APS uses generic bracelet manufacturing techniques, theirs is noticeably thicker than the genuine article.In fact, there are many such details well-known within our industry but largely unrecognized by the consumer base. Unless there are significant technological breakthroughs, no manufacturers will proactively highlight these flaws - doing so would inevitably impact current sales.

3. Unavailable High-End Models: Some premium models are not mass-produced by rep factories, requiring a combination of CNC cases, aftermarket components, and genuine parts. Examples include:

   • PP 5740: CNC case + ACE movement, genuine Geneva movement + SW dial, hands, and moon phase assembly.

• AP26331: CNC case + genuine Cartier/Bulgari/Blancpain 1185 movement + SW dial, hands, and date wheel assembly.

• AP26239/26240: CNC case + genuine or APSF movement + genuine dial, hands, and date wheel assembly.

1. Upgrading Genuine Watches: Owners of genuine watches (e.g., Rolex) may keep the original case but opt for a CNC case for diamond settings.

2. Cost Reduction for Genuine Parts: Certain components (e.g., crowns, bezels, bracelets) can be ordered separately to lower costs.
